A signature rule violation is a violation of the rules based on posting protocols. It is rarely used, namely because the other categories are a bit more definitive. It tends to be a catch-all category, but, since the inception of the hotfile ban, that seems the most appropriate, namely because a file host is a bit of a "signature" of the poster.

He means that many posters always use the same file host, thus it becomes their signature, like anytime you see a movie posted by me, you know there will be SendSpace links, I may also include RS links as well, but you know there will be SS links because it"s what I always use...

I didn't realize Hotfile wasn't allowed here any longer. Are there any dangers in using Hotfile?
EDIT: OK, I found the new rule
[Only Registered Users Can See Links]
I was worried about megathreads, so I completely understand. They were great for downloaders, but I know they made for a huge target.
I did go ahead and buy a month of Hotfile, just because so many other people were uploading to it. Plus you can upload files larger than 200mb. Before I upload anything else to Hotfile I'd like to know if there are any risks that I don't know about.
Thanks for the help!
