View Full Version : Problems with .001 type files.
Hi, I was having problems opening the .00# files in general. One of them opens but the rest dont, I tried converting them but it says damaged file or something of that nature. I looked on the site and found the HJsplit program, but I tried opening the .exe and it says it stopped working (That typical Vista message). I use Windows Vista Home Premium.
Any thoughts?
I use XP personally, but most problems like that which my friend who uses Vista has encountered were fixed by right-clicking on the program (in this case HJsplit) and clicking "Run as Administrator" or a similar option, it may vary slightly from version to version or depending on your specific settings. If any sort of security alerts pop up make sure you allow or continue everything. This is not good practice for any exe which will not run, but for something that is known to be safe like HJsplit there should be no risks.
Please report back about if this works for you or not :)

To get it working you have to include it in the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) exclusion list or HJ-Split execution will be blocked everytime with Vista.
How to do this:
Open the Control Panel
Select System
Advanced system settings
Under "Advanced" tab and "Performances" box select "settings"
Data execution prevention tab
Tick "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select"
Click add and browse for "HJ-Split.exe" file
Select it and apply

You'll get it to work :).
