Love Is Strange (2014)

After Ben and George get married, George is fired from his teaching post, forcing them to stay with friends separately while they sell their place and look for cheaper housing -- a situation that weighs heavily on all involved.

John Lithgow and Alfred Molina give heartfelt performances in a movie that dares to confront the issues of love, loneliness, and family relationships in a very direct and honest manner. Love Is Strange is so natural and unassuming in its portrayal of relationships that the divide between audience and the characters on the screen disappears; we are directly slipping into their lives with the ease of familiarity.

SHINER a John Irvin film from 2000 with a marvellous Michael Caine. It's the story of one himself overestimating box promotor. I have been fascinated of the play Michael Caine has done in this film. He was really very unlikeable in this role but in the same moment so sensitive and desperate that you could cry.

BEACH RATS - Hmmm - what shall I say??? It started really good and interesting - but then the film lost itself in many senseless actions. It raised some actions but you don't get answers why this or that happened. A film without answers - a film which was not going in-depth. When it ended - you are remaining at a loss. Nevertheless this film has had very good rudiments - but that is not enough.

I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen in this film...

STRIKE ONE a movie with Danny Trejo! I've read the best film ever with Danny Trejo. Oh my dear God - tell me how was the worst film with DT? This film was the ultimate insult of a nice taste. I'm really ashamed to tell here that I have watched this crap! Sorry!

Philomena (2013)

Based on a powerful true story "Philomena" tells us the heart-breaking story of a mother looking for her long lost son.

A remarkable movie in every way. The acting was excellent - a lifetime of pain and regret can been seen in Dench's eyes at certain times. Despite its weighty themes, Stephen Frears' movie is almost as much a comedy as a drama. The tear-jerking moments here are heartfelt and real. It's the kind of filmmaking we see too little of today.

Philomena. Phenomenal. Par excellence.

Valerian - better than I thought it would be

I agree.
Narration was a bit disconnected, but visually gorgeous and overall well paced.
Rihanna also did a good job.
It bombed at the box office, but Luc Besson says he still hopes to be able do do a sequel because of fan response...
