About the language: meister Ekkehart was a Dominikan friar living in the years 1260-1328, so I guess the language could be called "Mittel Hoch Deutch".

"Warumbe" = warum ; "Ssunder" = sondern, ohne

So: ohne warum. Without why. Ssunder Warumbe.

Thanks for the translation. I'm speaking German and I think that I'll have mastery of my native language - but Mittelhochdeutsch - sorry I'm drawing a blank on that one. ~X(

Well, languages changes - on every possible level imaginable, and I'm pretty certain you don't manage to read Wolfram von Eschenbach and other great German poets roughly contemporary with Meister Ekkehard without a translation from Mittelhochdeutch to modern German;

just as I definitely don't manage to read 13th century Swedish laws without a translation to modern Swedish.

Totally correct Gorgik - but nonetheless you have given to me an impact to learn more about the language of my/our ancestors. Not that I want to learn it - oh my God nooooo - but to be more skilled about this spoken and written language.

As ever Gorgik, you are always good for a new experience through your all-embracing knowledge. :thumbs up:
