For sixteen years I worked for a company where I was in charge of purchasing Christmas presents for loyal and important customers and for the majority of those years I chose a wooden box of an assortment of the best Canadian cheddar obtainable in the market. I took advantage of the bulk direct order savings to buy exactly the same thing for friends of the family. Aside from the usual thank you, I only got the appreciation of their sorely missing those annual treats when I left the company.

One of my favorite authors, Ursula K LeGuin, just died, so here's a couple of my favorites from her:
