Hoi guys.

I'm ihno and I am new. :) ;P

Seems there are some threads on music but none on classical music. So, who likes it? You can't all listen solely to Madonna. :D

I listen to it a lot, like symphonical and choral music from Purcell to Elgar, with some exceptions.

This is one of my faves, the Requiem from Michael Haydn, which at first resembles of Mozart's (later) Requiem, Joseph's Stabat Mater and Pergolesi.

Do you have any faves?

I now listen mostly to solo piano music such as Mozart's Fantasy in C minor, Chopin's Ballade #1 and Granados's Danzas Poeticas.

WOW! Answers! :D

The Czechs... not just great porn and Barandov studios, also great composers.

The Vlatava is with the little Night Music and Hungarian dances highly overused I'm afraid, which is not Smetana's fault (or is it?). Highly loveable anyway as is Dvorak. Thank you. With Dvorak I also love the Cello Concerto, which is even more dramatic.

Like parucci and peter123, I like what I like, included a few classical pieces :) So I'm not limited to a certain genre.

Just to mention a few, Chopin "Etude in E major, Op.10 No.3", Schubert "Ave Maria", Wieniawski "Polonaise Brillante No.1 Op.4", Massenet "Elégie", Gossec "Gavotte" and Joplin "The Entertainer".
And my all time favourite: Pachelbel "Canon in D Major". Such a beautiful piece! I can understand why it's such a popular wedding song.

Lenny is just awesome and I love him. Thanks for sharing Peter:heart:

@ihno

You have no clue what you started with your thread:D I really appreciate that!

I posted several pieces in the youtube thread already but will now do here as well as often as I can.

Classical Music is a huge part of my life!

Just today I received the complete collection of Glenn Gould's recordings of Johann Sebastian Bach's piano music. This is absolutely beautiful and in case of Bach I want to say:

When you listen to Bach, then you don't feel alone.

This has maybe a deeper way of thinking but hope it makes sense:)

Look forward to continue sharing here from time to time:heart:

@Big Benny: I noticed your avatar of course. :D :big hug:

I love Bach very much as well, though a little less at the moment.

But here are two of my all time favourites, the Gloria BWV 236 after Gott ist unser Sonn und Schild and one of the most beautiful fugues "et in terra pax" from the mass in b minor.

I often listen to classical music. My favorite is the Dutch singer Aafje Heynis

both are live recordings from the early fifties.

:D thx, we have many another great things here

I don't know if these songs are overused. They are just easy to listen and quite short.

I just found on yt really cool cover of Vltava by Wolf Hoffmann from Accept:

Honey boo, don't go generalizing that we, the gays, only listen to Madonna and/or Lady Gaga. Trust me, such affirmations don't sit well with some of us.

Now, I do like "classical" music, love. Sadly, I don't listen to it often, and my musical universe happens to be rather... limited. But I do make and attemp to know it better.

Here's one of my favourites so far;

Danse Diabolique

Oh, and welcome to the GayHeaven. 'Tis a beauty, isn't it? :big hug:

It was a little irony. And I didn't mention Lady Gaga. Of course I listen to other music as well.

And yes, it is.

It was in no way any kind of criticism against you. :)

I like this cover of another highly used piece. :)

I like every kind of music, included classical music, fascinating, beautiful, expressive.
When I listen to it, it's just like the music flows into me and I become a part of it

An example, the great Wiener Philharmoniker orchestra playing Ravél's Boléro, goosebumps!

Wow, soo many different inputs.

@Peter123: Tschaikowsky, I love him too. I love the fifth the most of his symphonies, esp. the fourth movement is very expressive. There is so much to say about Tschaikowsky bla bla bla bla bla bla bla :D

Who doesn't know this yet, should give it a try...

Saint Saens, the third symphony, movement 3 and 4.

My tastes in music are very diverse in terms of styles boiling down to music that I like and music that I do not enjoy.
I wish I were more educated in classical music - maybe I would have been able to feel it deeper. But nonetheless I do enjoy many classical pieces.

Tschaikowsky's Swan Lake is something I like listening to (and watching - I like ballet) often
