The executive director of Dreamspinner Press said recently that sales of m/m novels that don't depict explicit sex are 30% lower than those with steamy bump and grind. This is the DSP take. I haven't seen any other reports from other sellers.
BTW, DSP is an E-book publisher.

I have no trouble believing this is true with other publishers too. When I think about what I and all others I know who order from DSP and other similar publishers it's romance with the steamy edge :p

Well I must admit that I get disappointed if the book or story I read doesn't have any sex in it but there is a line in there somewhere as well because I hate it when the plot is basically pushed aside to cram in more sex scenes.

I agree. Hot sex scenes here and there is something I like, but enough is enough. Sex scene after another becomes boring quite fast.

If I want to read about sex, I go to sites like Nifty.org. When I purchase a book, I want there to be an actual story that focuses on the plot. Stories that sacrifice the plot just to depict some hot sex scene aren't worth the read to me. This probably explains why the stories that I write have little, if any, sex in them. If the plot doesn't necessitate a hot sex scene, why include it?

Well its just frustrating as well when a story needs a descriptive sex scene and the author just walks over it. Especially if you've been emotionally attached to the characters and the writer just downplays it or use some euphemism to make it more 'readable' to a broad audience.
