"History of the private life" George Duby/Philippe Aries

Ahrm..."History of the private life" isn't a book, it's a whole series of books, edited by Duby/Ariès - very fat and absolutely lovely reading for anyone interested in european cultural / social history. (Do I like to correct my friend ihno ? You bet:devil:)

Yes, you are totally right. And be rest assured that I throughly searched for a thread called "What whole series of books do you read?". But I could not find one and wasn't in the mood of opening one, so I used this one instead. :p

And... yes, I could not avoid to notice that those are five books, not one. :p But I don't read them all at once.

But seriously: It's very enlightening as most things, Aries was involved with. The first one I read was "History of the death".

So lets get some more Ariès (even if Georges Duby to me is more of a personal favourite...)

Philippe Ariès : Centuries of Childhood.

Have you read that work recently? :p

@Gay4Boys: OMG and how was it? I don't read Star Trek books but the book-form of the mediocre Voyager Pilot would be my last choice. I think I would have chosen something new.

@ ihno
Are we in the bitchy mood, hrmmm?
How recent is something recently? I don't know and neither do you or anybody else.
But if you have an exact definition of recently, by all means please tell me!!

Nope. ;) I was just refering to the threadtitle: "What book do/did you read recently?"

You're right, it depends of course. Feel free to chose a definition of your own liking but please give your own definition of "recently" when answering the question. :D

Beautiful Creatures - Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Finally got this baby, so exited!

I thought they gonna use the movie cover version. But dang! Slap my ass and call me Sally! This book is a bit expensive than I thought! Maybe because the movie was a box office so they higher the price. Damn you...

Complete stories and poems by Edgar Allan Poe. Have read it before, but just recently bought it as my own since it was on sale. Nice to read it before going to bed, since the stories are short so you can easily finish the stories each night:)

I read an excellent book, nothing like tale of two cities but it really engaged my attention.
Title: The Nothingness of Ben
Author: Brad Boney

My local library has it in epub format.
After I read it I bought a copy. I felt like I needed to support a gay romance writer, the male ones are so rare.

Just finished re-reading Gone with the Wind. I read it twice in high school, but this was like reading if for the first time. I had forgotten everything that wasn't in the movie. It's a great story about how war swept through and practically destroyed everything of value in the old South.

Once I started I couldn't put it down. Great summer reading.
