There was no warm up act, garth, just the cylinder jockey playing the latest polkas on the Edison phonograph. But I could have sworn I saw Abe Lincoln in the VIP enclosure.

Well I am a bit of a purist, Station To Station, Low, Lodger, Heathen, Blackstar, Earthling, Scary Monsters etc. But I will never apologise for loving Never Let Me Down. There is something so 80's about that album. If I had a top ten songs/tracks of his, liking 99% of his work it is very difficult especially as recently a new track of his I just love made the list, so here goes:

10. Ashes To Ashes
9. Nuts
8. Breaking Glass
7. Space Oddity
6. Sense Of Doubt
5. Station To Station
4. Golden Years
3. Never Let Me Down
2. Sound and Vision
1. Fashion

Other thing is I saw him in person three times, the concerts were great, I don't have any issues with Blackstar. To me it was only a farewell in the sense of a document of the last year, but what he gave to us over 60 years, that lasts forever.

As the music world comes together to celebrate what would have been David Bowie’s 74th birthday, Duran Duran have paid tribute to their hero and friend with a cover of “Five Years.”

“Five Years” is, of course, the opening track from Bowie’s classic 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, an LP that inspired all the young dudes from Duran Duran to take up instruments and chase the rock ‘n’ roll dream.

Here is a rare snap that many will not have seen before, taken by an employee with an Instamatic on a very long distance sleeper train, poss Trans Siberian Express. This was when David had a fear of flying, which is quite a problem when when you are planning a world tour.
I like this pic, asleep surrounded by empty bottles, I can identify with that.

Speaking of the film Merry Xmas MrL, how did they get the actors who played the other prisoners in the camp? Most of them looked to be at the hospitalisation stage of malnutrition. Which was true to the story but a big sacrifice to make just to get a small part in a movie.
