Is this site slower now?

Before the recent fix (which I thank you for), navigating from page to page was practically instantaneous. Now, after the fix, this site seems to be taking 1-2 seconds longer to navigate from page to page. This seems to be true of every link I click on.

Anyone else experiencing a recent slowdown?

Me too. If it is like some other sites I use, what may be happening is that a site that put (or is trying to put) a cookie on my system is very slow to actually complete its access. I use Cookie, so in cases such as that, I simply delete all unwanted data (a single click in Cookie), and it immediately frees up. That has happened here as well in the past on certain threads. I suspect that the thread owner has inserted something to rack up points from somewhere, and that hangs it for a few to many seconds. The solution in those cases is the same as I have just mentioned.

I deleted all my cookie data. Didn't stop the hang or increase the speed back to normal on this site, as far as I can tell. None of the other sites I visit have slowed down recently, only this one. Everything else is blazing fast. Here, everything hangs for 1-3 secs. I wonder if this site's week-long "fix" of the navigation problem involved tacking on some rerouting protocol for every URL.

Just to be clear, cookies are not the only thing that is involved. There are databases, flash cookies, etc. as well. Perhaps deleting cookies (if via a browser function) doesn't get rid of all of these.

And other sites not slowing down has absolutely nothing to do with this in my description. They may not be doing the same things.

Still slow

The slow response is not happening on a thread or two or three. It's happening on every link, including the link to gayheaven.org on Google Search. Clicking on my own name to reach my own profile is slower than it was. The only time this site is now as fast as it was before the "fix" is when I go backwards through links I've already visited. Going forward to new links on GH, it's slow, slow, slow.

I deleted all browser data on Chrome and that didn't help either. What now? Reboot? Reload everything? Reincarnate? Or some other drastic measure typically suggested by computer literates who offer glib advice? LOL

I'll just have to live with it, I guess, until enough complaints stack up to trigger some GH tech response (gawd help us if they have to start fiddling with it again). In the meantime, I'll pretend it's 2001, the prez is on vacation, and I'm on Dial-up. What could go wrong?

Well, if you click on "new posts" and get impatient and click again you get the "please wait 45 seconds".

But it's not a big problem and I haven't really noticed the delay.

I've not noticed significant slowdown. I'm known as "patient" but I would not say its nearly as bad as many sites I visit regularly (porn and non-porn). Thanks also to those who effected the fix!

For the first few hours the site started to work again it was lightning fast - so much so that I thought the server must have been upgraded or something. But, as more and more people re-discovered the site it sssslllllooooowwwwweeeeedddddd right back down

Clearly, the site has the mixed-blessing of being more popular that the hardware running it can really deal with.

I'm not complaining real hard: but it does seem like after that long span of navigation problems, followed by all of the time I couldn't even get in, the fix would be better.

Near-Instant Speed is Back!

Ever since the “fix” a few weeks ago, the speed of going from page to page on GH has been significantly slower than it was before the “fix.” This has been true 24/7. I know because I often stay up for 24-72 hours in a row and am on my computer all of that time.

Suddenly, today, the old super speed has returned. Yay!

Kudos, GH!

Right now, it’s about 12:30 p.m. in NYC, so this is a heavy usage time in America. Despite that, this site is once again BLAZING fast.
