Dead Marine's father ordered to pay WBC's legal fees

Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder was killed in action in 2006 protecting our free way of life. At his funeral, Westboro Baptist "Church" and the Phelps family protested. Snyder's family decided that no other family should have to go through this kind of emotional distress and sued the "church" and family. They were awarded $10.9 million, later reduced to $7.9 million. Westboro appealed to the 4th District, who reversed the judgment and issued a judgment against Snyder for $16,000, to include Westboro's legal fees. The Supreme Court has agreed to take the case, so we will be awaiting their decision. Support our troops who make it so much easier for us to live our lives the way we were born.

Those stupid bastards should be sent to Iraq and used to test for landmines and car bombs instead of our brave men and women having to risk their lives...

This is pretty common on the US Court Appellate level to award legal fees like this - if the case is further appealed to the US Supreme Court that judgement would also be challenged and likely fall.

The REALLY ironic thing is the almost every member of the main family behind the Westboro Baptist "Church" is a law-school trained attorney so they likely represent themselves in court cases like this and (if the judgement stands) would go laughting all the way to the bank with money for a grieving father....what a bunch of ASSHOLES!:angry:
