There are officially less than 88 days for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 to take place in Lisbon. It may look like a long way to go for the Eurovision Song Contest to be back in our screens, but it really isn’t. Among national finales, Eurovision parties, new music and new artists, time will run so fast that before you know it, it is that time of the year again.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will be the 63rd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It will take place for the first time in Portugal following the country's first victory at the 2017 contest in Kiev, Ukraine with the song "Amar pelos dois", performed by Salvador Sobral.

The contest will be held at the Altice Arena in Lisbon and will consist of two semi-finals on 8 and 10 May and a final on 12 May 2018.

The three live shows will be hosted by Filomena Cautela, Sílvia Alberto, Daniela Ruah and Catarina Furtado.

Forty-three countries will participate in the contest, equalling the record of the 2008 and 2011 editions. Russia will return after their absence from the previous edition, and for the first time since 2011, no country will be withdrawing from the contest.

SWITZERLAND: Zibbz - Stones

img201vqv.jpg

Switzerland’s hope for a modern song with a "clear and understandable message" came true as Zibbz won the ESC 2018 – Die Entscheidungsshow with their song Stones, moving forward as Switzerland's 59th entry in the Eurovision Song Contest.

According to the group, Stones is an energetic power-pop-rock song with meaningful lyrics. Today, nothing is easier than hurting and bullying other people on the Internet. Usually anonymous and cowardly. Zibbz calls on us to stop throwing stones and let people live as they are.

ZiBBZ was founded in 2008 by siblings Corinne 'Coco' Gfeller (32) and Stefan 'Stee' Gfeller (30). The name ZiBBZ is a modification of the English word "siblings". The band is particularly well-known for their reality TV show on 'Joiz' TV.

Switzerland has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 58 times since making their debut – and winning - the first contest in 1956 with Refrain by Lys Assia. The country won again in 1988 with Celine Dion's Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi.

DENMARK: Rasmussen - Higher Ground

e2145d2ef0.jpg

Rasmussen has won the 2018 edition of the Danish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, 'Dansk Melodi Grand Prix' with the song Higher Ground.

After an exciting show in Aalborg, hosted by Annette Heick and Johannes Nymark, Rasmussen has won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and will represent Denmark in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. Rasmussen was crowned the winner after two rounds of voting, using a combination of public and jury votes.

One of the participants was also Sannie, better known internationally as Whigfield, who had a huge international hit in 1994 with the song Saturday Night.

Jonas Flodager Rasmussen - or Rasmussen - is 32 years old, raised in Viborg and currently lives in Langå. He performs with his cover band Hair Metal Heröes, and has participated in well-known national musicals in Denmark. Rasmussen also teaches at the Performing Arts School at Viborg Cultural School.

Denmark first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 and has won the competition three times in total in 1963, 2000 and 2013. The country still holds the record for hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in the largest venue ever back in 2001.

ITALY: Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro - Non mi avete fatto niente

b368e5c9e2.jpg

Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro have won the 2018 edition of Sanremo and will represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest with their song 'Non mi avete fatto niente' in Lisbon next May.

Ermal Meta (36) has become a classic singer/songwriter in Italy in only three years: 6 platinum and 4 gold records are the proof. His big hits include Odio Le Favole and A Parte Te.

Fabrizio Moro (42) studied at the "Roberto Rossellini" Institute for cinematography and television in Rome, while he learns to play the guitar, the piano and the bass as self-taught and in his teen years he started writing and arranging his first songs.

Not only was Italy one of the founding participants of the Eurovision Song Contest, taking part in the first ever edition in 1956, the country is responsible for the entire Eurovision format! Italy has won the Eurovision Song Contest twice, in 1963 and 1990.

MONTENEGRO: Vanja Radovanović - Inje

vanjaradov.jpg

Vanja Radovanović (35) has won Montenegro's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, 'Montevizija 2018' with the song 'Inje' and will represent the country in Lisbon!

Slavko Kalezić was chosen to represent Montenegro at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Space but for 2018 Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG opted for a national final. The show was held at the Hilton hotel in Podgorica.

Inje (Mist), a traditional Balkan ballad, comes off as somewhat interchangeable with so many other ballads we’ve heard from the region in recent years. The melody, while beautiful, grows rather tiresome rather quickly. The instrumentation is enchanting — cello, violin and piano. But at times they are so sparse and soft the song feels empty.

The selection of a Balkan ballad fits with Montenegro’s most successful trips to Eurovision. Montenegro has qualified for the Eurovision grand final twice, both times with Balkan ballads. In 2014, Sergej Cetkovic placed 19th with “Moj svijet”, while the following year Knez placed 13th with “Adio”.

GREECE: Gianna Terzi - Oneiro mou

yiannaterz.jpg

What a rollercoaster! After initially calling for songs with a ‘Greek sound’, and selecting five artists to take part in a national final, Greece proceeded to disqualify two of the five acts for not meeting that criteria.

On Thursday, it was reported that the record labels for the two other competing artists refused to pay a € 20,000 fee to the Greek broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) and were disqualified from the competition. This leaves Yianna Terzi as the last woman standing, and she has now been internally picked to represent Greece at Eurovision 2018 with her song “Óneiró mou” (My Dream).

Gianna Terzi (37) was born in Thessaloniki and began performing professionally in 2005. After releasing several successful albums she relocated to the United States and worked as a talent scout for Interscope Records.

It's deliberate, if we win we have to host the next years ..... and we can't afford it :rofl::rofl::big hug:

Tonight there will be a show on tedescian tv, called "Unser Schmodder für Lissabon" ("USFL", Our Song for Lissabon). It hurts already... as said.

edit: Germany is sending Simply Red this year (for those who don't remember: That was a band years ago).
