help save my porn

I don't know if I should post this here or on my other post about backing up my files. if this is wrong fill free to move it thanks. I am sending in my laptop to be fixed but how can I save my porn I have 137 videos and I have no were to put them all of my flash drives are full as well as my SD card and no money to buy any thing any thoughts thanks

Well, it has to go somewhere, and I assume you are planning on taking it off the laptop. (Good plan, but be aware that a good repair tech can recover whatever you have deleted, if they are motivated to do so. That is, after all, part of their job. You will have to go to greater lengths to keep it out of their reach.)

What matters here is not how many videos you have, but how much space they take up. The obvious choice is to back up to a cloud storage service. Microsoft OneDrive, for example, gives you 5gb for free. Google Drive gives you 15 GB for free. You can also look at DropBox (2 GB) and Box (10GB). I think those may be free trials for a limited period of time. At any rate, you may be able to divide your videos between those services and then move them back when you get your laptop.

Of course, with the cloud, you are handing your porn over to a third party. Maybe that bothers you, maybe it doesn't.

If you can spend a little bit of money, you can get a 64gb flash drive these days for under $25. That's a ton more space than you will have with any of the cloud services, and the transfer time will be fast and the videos stay in your control.

Regarding deleting the stuff: in Linux there is a command "shred" that does not simply do a normal delete, but actaully overwrites the area on the disk. The normal delete command, which is does not actually delete anything; all it does is relabel that part of the disk and mark it as available for subsequent writing, so any future files that you save later on MAY use this part of the disk and erase part or all of the deleted file. After "deletion", to all intents and purposes the data is gone, from a normal user's point of view; however there is plenty of softwarre around that can retrieve the data provided it has not been overwritten yet.

My guess is you are probably not using Linux, but I am sure Windows and Apple OS have something similar to shred.

Unless you have anything illegal on it, though, I would question whether you need to stress about it to this extent. The techs are sure to have encountered tons of porn before, they are not going to be shocked.

Having said that, backing up any files that are important to you is a pretty good idea, if you are letting the device out of your hands and asking someone to open it up.

Wasn't familiar with the command. Go Ubuntu!

p.s. Not sure how accurate the reports are. But it is reported Google looks for pirated material and deletes what it finds. So careful of what you put up. I'd use a disposable account at least if you use Google.

well the thing is--to upload it takes time---and then hoping its there--when go back to download it--how many gigs or terabytes are we talking about--and on a curious note--whats wrong with laptop whats it doing

If it were me, and I really didn't want to risk losing the stuff, I'd just buy some more flash drives and be done with it. You say you can't afford it, but surely uploading and downloading to somewhere else is going to cost you? not to mention the time it will take for the data transfer.

It's beyond me why anyone would want to keep that much porn anyway. Watching it, and paying to watch it, I can understand, but how many times to you watch one particular clip before it gets boring?

my cpu is running high between 39%-100% plus one hinge is lose on the screen but the good news is I saved all my stuff a friend gave me an external hard drive he was not using.
