Haven't snake charmers in places like india been doing that for centuries, using their flutes to (allegedly) charm snakes and make them obedient and docile? Also I dare say there were many European shepherds in days gone by who played a lute or something to relieve the boredom, and had only their sheep for an audience.

The Beatles started the modern day craze, of course, with the "hidden" track at the end of Sgt Pepper, consisting of several seconds of high-frequency noise, inaudible to humans but audible to dogs. The idea was that you would be just relaxing exhausted after listening to the final notes of "A Day In the Life", and suddenly the family dog would jump up and bark and run around, making you wonder what the hell was wrong with it.

The cows and the elephants and the whale seem to be actually responding to the music. The sheep, on the other hand, I'm not so sure - they just seem to be milling around not reacting one way or the other to the music, they seem to be mistaking the piano for a food or water trough. I don't think they could give a toss about the music. It's the bovine equivalent of humans going to the bar during a song.

Sheep, as you probably know, are very dim.

At one point in this one of cows has a brief attempt at mounting one of the others. :D

There's been a bit of publicity lately about patrons behaving badly at music festivals: men groping women, making unwanted sexual advances, that sort of thing. Looks like it''s not only humans who behave that way.

Angus and Highland cattle are usually partial to skirls.

Snake charmers that get stung by cobras are probably not charming enough.
