"So Much To Say" Dave Matthews Band
Songwriters: Craig Brockman, Charlene Keys, Nisan Stewart

I say my hell is the closet I'm stuck inside
Can't see the light
And my heaven is a nice house in the sky
Got central heating and I'm alright
Yeah yeah yeah
Can't see the light
Keep it locked up inside don't talk about it
T-t-talk about the weather
Yeah yeah yeah
Can't see the light
Open up my head and let me out little baby
'Cos here we have been standing for a long long time
Treading trodden trails for a long long time, time, time, time, time, time, time

I find sometimes it's easy to be myself
Sometimes I find it's better to be somebody else

I see you young and soft, oh little baby
Little feet, little hands, little feet, little feet, little baby
One year of crying and the words creep up inside
Creep into your mind yeah

So much to say, so much to say, so much to say, so much to say
So much to say, so much to say, so much to say, so much to say

'Cos here we have been standing for a long long time
Treading trodden trails for a long long time, time, time, time, time, time, time

I find sometimes it's easy to be myself
Sometimes I find it's better to be somebody else

So much to say, so much to say, so much to say, so much to say
So much to say, so much to say, so much to say, so much to say

Open up my head and let me out, little baby

The first verse and especially the first line: "I say my hell is the closet I'm stuck inside" is something a lot of us who have yet to come out might relate to.

"The Very Thought Of You"

the very thought of you
and I forget to do
The little ordinary things
that everyone ought to do
I'm living in a kind of daydream
I'm happy as a queen
And foolish though it may seem
to me that's everything

The mere idea of you
The longing hear for you
You never know how slow the moments go
till I'm near to you
I see your face in every flower
Your eyes in stars above
it's just the thought of you
the very thought of you
my love
The mere idea of you
the longing hear for you
you never know how slow the moments go till I'm near to you
I see your face in every flower
your eyes in stars above
its just the thought of you
the very thought of you
my love

Skeletal Family - This Time

I don't understand
It's time to tell me
Where I stand

Can't hide your way no more
I'm going to make my stand
Just like I told you before

(Chorus)

Tomorrow's another day
I don't care what people say
I'm not runing away
I'm here to stay

Tomorrow's another day
I don't care what people say
I'm not gonna hide away
I'm not gonna hide away

If you care, do you understand
I can't hide away no more
And the picture on the wall
That you're gonna regret
It stares at me everyday
Tell me I can't hide away
So I don't betray and make it back to you

(Chorus)

So here we are again
That's the begining
Ready to start anew
Don't change your mind
I'll be with you this time
When you have to make your stand

(Chorus)

Tomorrow, Today
I don't care what people say
I'm not running away
I'm here to stay

Tomorrow, Today
I don't care what people say
I'm not gonna hide away
I'm not gonna hide away

"True Colors" - Cyndi Lauper
Writer(s): John Kenneth Wetton, Billy Steinberg, Tom Kelly

You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh I realize
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small

But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

Show me a smile then,
Don't be unhappy, can't remember
When I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there

And I'll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors

Well how do you do, Private Willy McBride?
Do you mind if I sit here, Down by your graveside?
And rest for a while, In the warm summer sun
I’ve been walking all day, And I’m nearly done
And I see by your gravestone, You were only nineteen
When you joined the glorious fallen, In 1916
Well I hope you died quick, And I hope you died clean
Or, Willie McBride, Was it slow and obscene?

Did they beat the drum slowly?
Did they play the pipes lowly?
Did the rifles fire over you?
As they lowered you down
Did the bugles sound
The last post in chorus?
Did the pipes play
The Flowers of the Forest?

And did you leave a wife, Or a sweetheart behind?
In some loyal heart, Is your memory enshrined?
And although you died, Back in 1916
To that loyal heart, You are always nineteen
Or are you a stranger, Without even a name
Forever enshrined, Behind some glass pane
In an old photograph, Torn and tattered and stained
And fading to yellow, In a brown leather frame

Did they beat the drum slowly?
Did they play the pipes lowly?
Did the rifles fire over you?
As they lowered you down
Did the bugles sound
The last post in chorus?
Did the pipes play
The Flowers of the Forest?

The sun’s shining down on these green fields of France
The warm wind blows gently, The red poppies dance
The trenches have vanished, Long under the plough
No gas and no barbed wire, No guns firing now
But here in this graveyard, Its still no man’s land
The countless white crosses, In mute witness stand
To man’s blind indifference, To his fellow man
And a whole generation,
Who were butchered and dammed

Did they beat the drum slowly?
Did they play the pipes lowly?
Did the rifles fire over you?
As they lowered you down
Did the bugles sound
The last post in chorus?
Did the pipes play
The Flowers of the Forest?

And I can’t help but wonder, No Willie McBride
Do all those who lie here, Know why they died
Did you really believe, When they told you the cause
Did you really believe, That this war would end wars?
Well, The Suffering, The Sorrow, The Glory, The Shame
The Killing, The Dying, It was all done in vain
For Willie McBride, Its all happened again,

And AGAIN And AGAIN And AGAIN And AGAIN

Did they beat the drum slowly?
Did they play the pipes lowly?
Did the rifles fire over you?
As they lowered you down
Did the bugles sound
The last post in chorus?
Did the pipes play
The Flowers of the Forest?

'Green Fields of France' aka 'No Mans Land' as sung by hundreds of singers, best by June Tabor, worst by Joss Stone.

I have a huge music library in my home and there are so many songs to choose from with lyrics that have impacted my life. Nonetheless...I will share some of the lyrics from this particular song because it meant so much to me when I got out of the hospital and my late partner had asked to be my life partner and he took me to his home for further rehabilitation. Here it goes:

Letting go of all of the ones who hurt me
'Cause they never did deserve me
Can You imagine me?

Saying no to thoughts that try to control me
Remembering all You told me
Lord, can You imagine me?

Lyrics from the Kirk Franklin song "Imagine Me"

WOW!!! I've never heard "Green Fields of France" before, so listening to June Tabors beautiful and intense version of the ballad was my first time. And Joss Stone's is just awful, almost making me puke. It's a gravely un-ethical version.

But I also started to thinking about the contemporary version I very much would like to listen to - Jay Brannan! Exactly the right powerful, intense angelic voice, but at the same time a voice for satire and sarcasm when it's needed. He comes from the great american folksong tradition of Joe Hill, Woodie Guthrie, Pete Seger, the young Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell.

Kmfdm - wwiii

Truth comes with hate against lies;)

KMFDM - WWIII

I declare war on the world
War in outer space
I declare war in a nutshell
War all over the place

I declare war on every government
War against all odds
I declare war on your inner sanctum
On your bloodthirsty gods

World war three - be all that you can be
World war three

I declare war on the axis of morons
All out war on complacent consent
I declare war on the war against drugs
Rape and slaughter of the innocent

War on big brother
Warmongers and profiteers
War on your dogma dubya
Armageddon’s engineers

World war three
World war three - be all that you can be
World war three

War in a heartbeat
I declare war on so-called civilization
World trade globalization
Organized disinformation

War on ambassadors of pretense
War on MTV and CNN
McDonald's, Walt Disney, and Bethlehem
On Christina, Britney, and Eminem

I declare war on the world of anti-choice
On violent unilaterality
On the amassment of murderous high-tech toys
And all crimes against humanity

War on the moral majority
On corporate dot com imperialism
On mindlessly bumbling stupidity
And police-state terrorism

World war three
World war three - be all that you can be
World war three - be all that you can be
World war three

"Question" - The Moody Blues (released April 1970)

"Question"

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?

'cause when we stop and look around us
There is nothing that we need.
In a world of persecution that is burning in its greed.

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door?
Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the war of love is for.

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me.
It's more the way that you mean it
When you tell me what will be.

And when you stop and think about it
You won't believe it's true.
That all the love you've been giving
Has all been meant for you.

I'm looking for someone to change my life.
I'm looking for a miracle in my life.
And if you could see what it's done to me
To lose the love I knew
Could safely lead me through.

Between the silence of the mountains
And the crashing of the sea
There lies a land I once lived in
And she's waiting there for me.

But in the grey of the morning
My mind becomes confused
Between the dead and the sleeping
And the road that I must choose.

I'm looking for someone to change my life.
I'm looking for a miracle in my life.
And if you could see what it's done to me
To lose the love I knew
Could safely lead me to
The land that I once knew.
To learn as we grow old
The secrets of our souls.

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me.
It's more the way you really mean it
When you tell me what will be.

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?

When we stop and look around us
There is nothing that we need.
In a world of persecution that is burning in its greed.

I adore the whole song but I bolded my favourite part.

Joni Mitchell - California
Sitting in a park in Paris, France
Reading the news and it sure looks bad
They won't give peace a chance
That was just a dream some of us had
Still a lot of land to see
But I wouldn't stay here
It's too old and cold and settled in its ways here.

Oh, but California
California, I'm coming home
I'm going to see the folks I dig
I'll even kiss a sunset pig
California, I'm coming home.

I met a redneck on a Grecian isle
Who did the goat dance very well
He gave me back my smile
But he kept my camera to sell

Oh the rogue, the red red rogue
He cooked good omelets and stews
And I might have stayed on with him there
But my heart cried out for you, California
Oh California, I'm coming home
Oh make me feel good rock'n roll band
I'm your biggest fan
California, I'm coming home

Oh it gets so lonely
When you're walking
And the streets are full of strangers
All the news of home you read
Just gives you the blues
Just gives you the blues

So I bought me a ticket
I got on a plane to Spain
Went to a party down a red dirt road
There were lots of pretty people there
Reading Rolling Stone, reading Vogue
They said, How long can you hang around?
I said a week, maybe two
Just until my skin turns brown
Then I'm going home to California
California, I'm coming home
Oh will you take me as I am
Strung out on another man
California, I'm coming home

Oh it gets so lonely
When you're walking
And the streets are full of strangers
All the news of home you read
More about the war
And the bloody changes
Oh will you take me as I am?
Will you take me as I am?
Will you?
Will you take me as I am?
Take me as I am

A Little Bit - Nicholas Wells

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydVpDn2aFe4

At least when winter's been too long, the trees grow buds again.
At least if night is gonna come, the world will tell me when.
And sometimes all I need is something to believe in.
A breath of warmer air to help me keep on breathin'.

And as it turns out nothing really can be known for sure.
No sign to tell me how much more of this that I'll endure.
No strength to see a path beyond my clouded vision.
And no way out of living every wrong decision.

And all I need is a little bit of hope to keep me going on,
but there's just no light before the dawn.
Help me, is there anyone out there who can give me a sign,
to let me know my life will be just fine?

I can't fight any war if I believe that I can't win...
If there's no victory in sight, and there has never been.
And there's no way to keep myself from falling over,
with all the heartache that I carry on my shoulders.

And all I need is a little bit of hope to keep me going on,
but there's just no light before the dawn.
Help me, is there anyone out there who can give me a sign,
to let me know my life will be just fine?

Let me know my life will be just fine.
Let me know my life will be just fine.
I want to know what's on this path of mine.

And sometimes all I need is something to believe in.
Yeah, sometimes all I need is something...something...

And all I need is a little bit of hope to keep me going on,
but there's just no light before the dawn.
Help me, is there anyone out there who can give me a sign,
to let me know my life will be just fine?

"Last Goodbye" (Jeff Buckley)

This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die
But it's over
Just hear this and then i'll go
You gave me more to live for
More than you'll ever know

This is our last embrace
Must I dream and always see your face
Why can't we overcome this wall
Well, maybe it's just because i didn't know you at all

Kiss me, please kiss me
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation
You know it makes me so angry 'cause i know that in time
I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye

Did you say 'no, this can't happen to me,'
And did you rush to the phone to call
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know

Well, the bells out in the church tower chime
Burning clues into this heart of mine
Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories
Offer signs that it's over... it's over

Jeff Buckley - Last Goodbye (Edit) (Live)

Jeff Buckley was a great songwriter and performer and he was gorgeous.

At the 00:39 point in this video it appears he is kissing and nibbling the neck of a guy then the next image is him and another guy on stage looking very much like brokenhearted lovers.

This is such a beautiful song. It's sad but you can feel the love he put into writing it.

His death was a real loss to music.

I just found this lyric, and I suddenly loving it! It's from Ayumi Hamasaki soon to be release new album, this song called WARNING and here's the part: This song wrote and sung in Japanese of course, so this is the translation of the lyric.

"You should’ve done this like that"
"You should’ve done that like this"
I know I can count on you never being satisfied
"Remember the way you were when we met, sometimes"
Don’t make me laugh
That’s my line, you know
I’m not anyone’s outlet for complaints
That’s right, you don’t understand
I don’t show you
You don’t know the real me
I don’t feel like sharing
I don’t plan on explaining myself
I’m mine only

Johnny Cash - She Used to Love Me a Lot

Johnny Cash - She Used to Love Me a Lot

Many Johnny Cash songs have special meaning to me, since the only guy I have ever thought I would wanna be with, used to play and sing them for me. Well the only guy yet:) And with this song I don't have to highlight any part, it's all so spot on.

LYRICS:
I saw her through the window today
She was sittin' in the Silver Spoon cafe
I started to keep going
But something made me stop
She used to love me a lot

She looked lonely and I knew the cure
Old memories would win her heart for sure
I thought I'd walk on in
And I give it my best shot
She used to love me a lot

I sat down beside her and she smiled
She said where have you been it's been awhile
She was glad to see me
I could almost read her thoughts
She used to love me a lot

She used to love me with a love that wouldn't die
Looking at her now I can't believe I said good-bye
It would only take a minute to turn back the clock
She used to love me a lot

I remember how good it was back then
And I said it's not to late to start again
We could spend a night together
Take up where we left off
She used to love me a lot

But I panicked as she turned to walk away
As she went out the door I heard her say
Yes I'm in need of something
But it's something you ain't got
But I used to love you a lot

I thought she loved me with a love that wouldn't die
Looking at her now I can't believe she said good-bye
She just left me standing there, I never been so shocked
She used to love me a lot
She used to love me a lot
She used to love me a lot, she used to love me a lot, she used to love me a lot

The Kinks - A Well Respected Man (1965)

Lyrics by Ray Davies

Cause he gets up in the morning,
And he goes to work at nine,
And he comes back home at five-thirty,
Gets the same train every time.
Cause his world is built round punctuality,
It never fails.

And he's oh, so good,
And he's oh, so fine,
And he's oh, so healthy,
In his body and his mind.
He's a well respected man about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively.

And his mother goes to meetings,
While his father pulls the maid,
And she stirs the tea with councilors,
While discussing foreign trade,
And she passes looks, as well as bills
At every suave young man

Cause he's oh, so good,
And he's oh, so fine,
And he's oh, so healthy,
In his body and his mind.
He's a well respected man about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively.

And he likes his own backyard,
And he likes his fags the best,
Cause he's better than the rest,
And his own sweat smells the best,
And he hopes to grab his fathers loot,
When pater passes on.

Cause he's oh, so good,
And he's oh, so fine,
And he's oh, so healthy,
In his body and his mind.
He's a well respected man about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively.

And he plays at stocks and shares,
And he goes to the regatta,
And he adores the girl next door,
Cause he's dying to get at her,
But his mother knows the best about
The matrimonial stakes.

Cause he's oh, so good,
And he's oh, so fine,
And he's oh, so healthy,
In his body and his mind.
He's a well respected man about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively.

Depeche Mode - Somebody

Somebody

écrit par M.L. Gore
interprété par Dépêche Mode

I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who’ll stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
She’ll get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
She will hear me out
And won’t easily be converted
To may way of thinking
In fact she’ll often disagree
But at the end of all
She will understand me

I want somebody who cares
For me passionately
With every thought and with every breath
Someone who’ll help me see things
In a different light
All the things I detest
I will almost like
I don’t want to be tied
To anyone’s strings
I’m carefully trying to steer clear
Of those things
But when I’m asleep
I want some body
Who will put their arms around me
And kiss me tenderly
Though thinks like this
Make me sick
In a case like this
I’ll get away with it

Change the 'she' into 'he' and it just perfect ...

Trouble won't find me
Sorrow won't call
Sadness will turn away
Searching for a new soul
Hardship won't come by
All pain will cease
Somebody will take my place
And suffer for me

If I never see another sun
If I never see another sun
If I never see another sun
Another sun another sun

If no love will comfort me
If no kind words come
To offer hope or peace
When I have fallen
If I be a stranger
Friend of no one
I'll gladly take my place
In the world beyond

If I never see another sun
If I never see another sun
If I never see another sun
Another sun another sun

If I lay down and wake to see
The bright light of the morn
Rise up every day
To blind beat and burn
Show me no mercy
For need or want
Let somebody take my place
When the new day dawns

If I never see another sun
If I never see another sun
If I never see another sun
Another sun another sun

WHERE DO YOU START?
Music by Johnny Mandel
Lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman

Where do you start?
How do you separate the present from the past?
How do you deal with all the things you thought would last,
That didn’t last?
With bits of mem’ries scattered here and there,
I look around and don’t know where to start.

Which books are yours?
Which tapes and dreams belong to you and which are mine?
Our lives are tangled like the branches of a vine
That intertwine.
So many habits that we’ll have to break
And yesterdays we’ll have to take apart.

One day there’ll be a song or something in the air again,
To catch me by surprise and you’ll be there again.
A moment in
What might have been.

Where do you start?
Do you allow yourself a little time to cry,
Or do you close your eyes and kiss it all goodbye?
I guess you try.
And though I don’t know where
And don’t know when
I’ll find myself in love again,
I promise there will always be
A little place no one will see:
