Just wondering if there are any other published authors of gay-themed books/novels on here besides me?

Waves hand. Me! Me! :)
I have 3 novels published. I've just signed a 7 year contract to have second editions of them published by Dreamspinner Press. I also have a novella out with Dreamspinner.

Congratulations! :thumbs up:

I chose not to go with a publisher for my book, and instead self-published it.

What are the titles of the books you wrote?

Hi Jay, I self-published myself through Createspace, Author House, iUniverse (before it was bought out by AH).
My 3 novels aren't ready yet. however, if you want to know about the novella PM me. I write under my own name, so if I disclose the title, I might as well not use my username here. ;)

Currently I have one book published, and another on the way. There is a third that I plan to write in the near future when this second book is done. The idea for it came to me suddenly just recently. The majority of stories that I write are in the Sci-fi genre.

Nice :) I'm not an author of anything but I'm glad we have some writers here.

Are you all on Sci-fi/Fantasy genre or auto bios? Is writing profitable - what I mean is can it be your only job or do you just do it as a hobby?

Well, I for one write almost exclusively Sci-fi/Fantasy (More Sci-fi than Fantasy). I have one published book, a second one in progress and a third in the planning stages.

Writing can be very profitable (just ask my Uncle, who is a published author also and who is an Ottawa as bureau chief for the Globe and Mail), but I personally write as a hobby. If people are interested in purchasing my book, then I'm happy that they did, but I don't write specifically to make money.

Ah yes, that's seems to be the mainstream genre for gay nerds like me :p There seems to be a boom of sci-fi gay books especially for those vampire/werewolf kind of stories. I remember nify.org had a plethora of those back in the day

My novella, out with Dreamspinner Press, sells about 1 copy per day. The royalties are 35% of the cover price.
I have 3 novels with them too. They are in the editing process now. It will be interesting to see how these 3 will do, compared with the novella. :)

I chose to self-publish, and chose Lulu.com as the self-publishing company. Through them I published my novel as an ebook and as a trade paperback.

The only drawback to self-publishing is that it'll cost you money to market your book. Otherwise I've actually had a pretty good experience with them.

I self published a story with Smashwords and it's been pretty good. They auto distribute to a bunch of other retailers like B&N, and Kobo.

I'm also self published author. I also use Smashwords. I mix sex and romance/supernatural. Selling is VERY hard! It seems that most female don't like the explicit sex part. A female in Goodreads told me she craved emotional sex, not vulgar "mechanical sex" - as she put it. The gay male mostly dislike reading, even if it's 100% porn. And those who do like to read to me there are many free option online. It also gets hard coz those who like to buy ebooks prefer to buy from company-published authors.

So far, honestly, it's been very discouraging so far. It seems that whatever I do doesn't work. I mean, i design my own cover professionally. I even give printable freebies. Also discount/free ebook if a buyer can refer some buyers.

I'd love to share my link to you guys so that you can tell me what you think. I deisgn my own website as well, along with all the graphics. But then again there's the rule of no-link (sigh).

I think it depends on person what kind of sex she/he wants to read and watch. Personally I like both depending on my mood (I'm a woman), sometimes I prefer just hot sex ;)

I also mentioned this in your introduction post: external links are allowed but they must be anonymized always.

I do love the fact that u're a woman :D And not afraid of hot sex.

I do have very few female readers. I gave them link to my free story website (after I know they aren't afraid of reading hardcore erotica). And they all say they love it ^_^ Believe it or not, it makes me VERY HAPPY to hear a female reader loves my erotic stories! Coz I know not many like that.

Btw is it allowed to open my own thread regarding my gay erotic stories? Both free stories and commercial stories? Perhaps make it one with my manly arts as well. My free stories are very long and it may jam the forum if it has post limit, so I'm thinking to put a link instead.

You can post your own stories here (did you notice that xxx stories?), but all kind of advertisement is forbidden. How long stories you have? Maybe you could divide them?

Well, some free stories reach 70-100KB in text form. More like a novella size. Some readers "complain" they r too long! LOL Yes, my free stories are basically XXX. Yes, maybe I can split them. Is there any word count limit for each post?

Regarding commercial stories, is short summary (or XXX scene excerpt) considered advertisement? I'll just write what it is about. Then the end. No purchase link, no "buy now" sentence. Just sharing the story summary, perhaps like movie articles we read in movie magazines. We don't consider movie articles as movie ads, right? So something like that.

If I'm allowed to be honest, I think... even IF blatant ad were allowed, I really doubt it could bring any sale. I joined an ebook forum (similar to this forum - err... you know, sharing forum) and the mods allowed me to put blatant ad banner and link, the result: zero sale :(
