Like my first post in this thread with a sad song about the sinking of the Russian submarine "Kursk", this is also a rather untypical contribution. Again, however, it comes at a special time.
This video made me cry when I first saw and heard it last month. It shows mourning on Kiev's Maidan square after the mass killing of demonstrators ordered by the late Yanukovitch regime in February. The music is an old Lemko (a Western Ukrainian ethnic group) folk song - "A duckling swims on the Tisa river" - which in this version by the Ukrainian a capella formation "Pikkardiyska Tertsiya" has become something like an official hymn of mourning for those killed.
The video still brings tears to my eyes today - especially keeping in mind that the freedom these guys died for is now threatened by the Russians...
Enclosed below is an English translation. For those of you able to read Cyrillic letters and interested in following the sung text, I also enclose the Ukrainian original. The title of the video is "The Heavenly Hundred" as those killed have come to be called in Ukraine. The text at the end says "Heroes don't die".
A duckling swims
Hey, a duckling swims on the Tisa river,
A duckling swims on the Tisa river.
My Mother, don't rebuke me.
My Mother, don't rebuke me.
Hey, you rebuke me in an evil hour,
You rebuke me in an evil hour.
For I do not know where I shall die,
For I do not know where I shall die.
Hey, I shall die in a foreign land,
I shall die in a foreign land.
Who will dig a grave for me?
Who will dig a grave for me?
Hey, strangers will dig it for me,
Strangers will dig it for me.
Will you not regret it, Mother?
Will you not regret it, Mother?
How could I not regret it, my little Son?
How could I not regret it, my little Son?
For I carried you under my heart,
For I carried you under my heart.
Hey, a duckling swims on the Tisa river,
A duckling swims on the Tisa river...
This beautiful song by the gay and handsome California singer/songwriter Mark Weigle made me cry the first time I heard it 15 years ago and has every single time I've listened to it since then. It's an amazing love story.

This one always gets to me. One of the rarities released on the Culture Club boxed set, I'm so glad this song got to see the light of day. The video of beautiful images is fan made.
In Memory of my father died eight of November 2016
One day we'll meet again
There is a time to go for each of us
Like a leaf carried by the wind
it's way back to the origin as a child
When the blood freezes in your veins
When your heart stops beating
and you're flying up to the angels
Then have no fear
and just let yourself be carried
Because there is something after life,
you'll see
One day we'll meet again
One day I'll be watching from above
In my old age I will lay me down thankfully
And will close my eyes for good
All that remains is the memory
And real slowly it's becoming clear to you,
That nothing will be as it was
Then the hope to see you again
shall give my heartbeat the strength,
to live on
One day we'll meet again
One day I'll be watching from above
In my old age I will lay me down thankfully
And will close my eyes for good
A light shall shine for you until eternity
in memory of your lifetime
One day we'll meet again
One day I'll be watching from above
In my old age I will lay me down thankfully
And will close my eyes for good
In my old age I will lay me down thankfully
And will close my eyes for good
All alone am I ever since your goodbye
All alone with just a beat of my heart
People all around but I don't hear a sound
Just the lonely beating of my heart
No use in holding other hands
For I'd be holding only emptiness
No use in kissing other lips
For I'd be thinking just of your caress
All alone am I ever since your goodbye
All alone with just a beat of my heart
People all around but I don't hear a sound
Just the lonely beating of my heart
No other voice can say the words
My heart must hear to ever sing again
The words you used to whisper low
No other love can ever bring again.
All alone am I ever since your goodbye
All alone with just a beat of my heart
People all around but I don't hear a sound
Just the lonely beating of my heart
