Corporal Jeff DeYoung and his bomb sniffing dog "Cena"
DeYoung was able to adopt Cena after the dog was retired from military service. He became DeYoung's support animal helping him cope with PTSD. Unfortunately, Cena developed bone cancer and had to be put down.

Eli was adopted by Colton's parents after the young Marine was killed by a snipers bullet. It's only the second time the Marines has allowed an active service animal to be adopted by a fallen handlers family.
