I first heard 'Psycho Killer' in the fall of 1977 on a college radio station. I was hooked at that moment.

I went to see them at The Great Southeast Music Hall in early 1978. It was a new sound. David Byrne's signing style was new. It seemed so fresh.

When Remain In Light came along it was obvious just how genius the Talking Heads were.

We saw Talking Heads at Red Rocks in Denver in late July 1983 two nights in a row. It was incredible. They were the most incredible concerts I've ever seen and back in the day we saw a lot of concerts. It was the thing to do.

What do you think of the Talking Heads?

one of the finest american bands of the late 70s and eighties ... if not the finest of all

love all their albums, have all their albums

i still put on the dvd of stop making sense to spin out the 20somethings, and spun out they always are .. without exception they find that concert to be truly amazing

the show, the tunes, the band are still as amazing as they were all those years ago

Talking Heads was definitely one of the most respected bands in America in the 80's, loved both by critics and audiences. But I'm too young to know more than that...

And yes, of course I know their legendary anthem from 1985 Road To Nowhere. Who doesn't? :p

Stop Making Sense is a 1984 concert movie featuring a live performance by Talking Heads. Directed by Jonathan Demme, it was shot over the course of three nights at Hollywood's Pantages Theater in December 1983, as the group was touring to promote their new album Speaking in Tongues. The movie is notable for being the first made entirely using digital audio techniques. The band raised the budget of $1.2 million themselves. The title comes from the lyrics of the song "Girlfriend Is Better": "As we get older and stop making sense...". The film has been hailed by Leonard Maltin as "one of the greatest rock movies ever made", and Pauline Kael of The New Yorker described it as "...close to perfection."

A small improvement: it's not "The Talking Heads" but just "Talking Heads" anyway Sniffit thanks to post this topic , it was a fantastic group and try to go see the movie certainly if this still can, of course, you can always buy the CD, do so.

The name of this band is 'Talking Heads' but the title of this discussion is The 'Talking Heads' ;)

Stop Making Sense is a timeless classic. I believe it will be just as impressive 100 years from now and beyond.

That was the tour we witnessed (2 consecutive nights) at Red Rocks in Colorado ... arguably the best venue for music in the United States if not the world :)

That was long before cell phones, selfies and go-pro cams. The 'Great Music Spirit in the Sky' smiled upon us all when this tour was filmed and produced for generations to come.

Thanks Ioanna :)
