Thank you GolfDelta for sharing these photos of Mercedes assembly lines. Only the two first are showing 190 SL, the four other are about the 300 SL. It is not the same car neither the same price ! On the first picture we can see a 300 SL behind two 190 SL at the foreground.

The real difference between the 300SL and the 190 is the noise it makes...
The big, straight 6 in the 300 has an unmistakable, deep throaty exhaust note...
And on the inside, that sounds like a WWII fighter plane taking off...
That's the thing with cars of this caliber, they're more than just beautiful to look at. The sound of the engine, smell of the leather, feel the vibration of the motor, they stimulate all the senses...
And before you say what about taste, it's a rag top... Taste the bugs in your teeth...
