I don't get it. One minute it works and then all of a sudden it doesn't. I can't use the file explorer search function which is kinda the whole point if you think about it.

Then all of a sudden a week or two later it will be back to normal. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Sorry, I cannot be much help. I had to buy a new laptop this week (following non-recoverable Black Screen Of Death on the old one) and one of the 1st things I did during set-up was to turn Cortana OFF..... I thought the old "paper-clip" was a pain in the ass and didn't want a modern day equivalent... the search box seems to function perfectly well with out the know-it-all cousin of the SatNav (fucking hate them too) ~X(~X(
