ESDM will represent Spain in Malmö

It was the plan of the Spanish broadcaster TVE to send an established artist yet again to the Eurovision Song Contest. On 17 December 2012, it was revealed that the popular band ESDM - El Sueño De Morfeo (Morpheus' Dream) had been internally chosen by broadcaster RTVE to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.

Won5M.jpg

On 5 February 2013, the Spanish broadcaster, TVE, published on their website the four songs for consideration to be the Spanish entry performed by ESDM. Two of them are already qualified for the final on the 26th of February and a third one will join them from the remaining two. The voting to choose the third finalist song, in which users can vote only once, will close on the 11th of February, at 12:00. :nail biting:

Moments ago the Spanish television audience and an expert jury decided which song the band ESDM - El Sueño de Morfeo have to sing in Malmö. The winning title is Contigo Hasta El Final (With You All The Way).

Switzerland chooses 94-year-old for ESC 2013

Switzerland keeps up its tradition of picking a Eurovision entry in the calendar year before the contest itself. On 15 December 2012, the Swiss TV public (Europa Panel show from Bodensee Arena) has decided that Heilsarmee, whose bass player is 94-years-old, will represent Switzerland in Malmö with the song You And Me.

Switzerland is poised to set the record for sending the oldest musician to the annual Eurovision Song Contest.

Did you know...??? The European Broadcasting Union has told the Swiss delegation that they cannot use the name Heilsarmee or the Salvation Army uniforms during their Eurovision performance.

Esma & Vlatko are the choice of FYR Macedonia

MKRTV, the broadcaster from FYR Macedonia, has announced that two of their most popular artists will join forces to represent them at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö: the Queen of Gypsy music Esma Redzepova-Teodosievska and the popstar Vlatko Lozanoski-Lozano. :?

bpBMi.jpg

The official presentation of FYR Macedonia's entry for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö will be held in Studio 3 of MKRTV at the end of February.

Yesterday (Feb 27), the duo from FYR Macedonia Esma & Lozano presented their entry for Malmö. A video for Macedonia’s entry for the 2013 Eurovision song contest was pulled from YT 24 hours after the song’s launch and a new version of the video is to be produced after complaints from within Macedonia and abroad – the latter over inclusions of images of the nationalistic Skopje 2014 project. Even though the video has been pulled from YT, the original clip is still online elsewhere, including here -> Anon URL

On 17 October 2012, it was revealed that the successful Dutch artist Anouk will represent Netherland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. She posted a video message on Facebook. Broadcaster TROS have confirmed to Eurovision.tv that the song along with a video clip will be presented in February.

Anouk Teeuwe, 37, has released eight studio albums being a regular of the Dutch music scene since her biggest hit Nobody's Wife hit the charts in several European countries back in 1997.

Dutch broadcaster TROS have confirmed to us that Anouk will sing the song Birds in Malmö.

After not qualifying to the final since 2004, is it finally the Netherland's year?

Ukraine's Eurovision 2013 Entry

On 23 December 2012, the Ukrainian national final took place in Kyiv. A combination of sms-voting and an expert jury decided that Zlata Ognevich (27) with her song Gravity is a worthy representative of Ukraine in Malmö.

Y8HG7.jpg

This year was Zlata's third attempt to get to Eurovision after finishing fifth at the Ukrainian final in 2010 and second, losing out to Mika Newton, in 2011.

She has a great voice...but the song is so so...

Croatia: Misery Descends on Malmö

On 16 January 2013, Croatia announced that the song, Mižerja (Misery) by Goran Topolovec, will represent the country at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The next stage of the process is to find the artist(s) to perform Mižerja in the Eurovision Song Contest.

38Vr.jpg

As previously reported, the Croatian entry for 2013 will be a traditional Klapa song. Klapa music is a form of a cappella singing that first appeared during the middle of the 19th century...A reserve entry has also been chosen, this is called Cili Svit Za Bili Cvit from Miroslav Buljan of Zagreb.

Yesterday, the Croatian broadcaster HRT has announced the names of the musicians who will have the honour to show their rich musical tradition in Malmö. Six male artists with powerful voices will compose the Klapa Ensemble.

Today (Feb 27) the new name of Super Klapa has been announced. The official name of the ensemble is Klapa s Mora that means Klapa From The Sea. Klapa presented their entry Mižerja.

Andrius Pojavis to Malmö for Lithuania

On 20 December 2012, Andrius Pojavis, Lithuanian singer-songwriter, wins Lithuanian final with his song Something.

K3EQ9.jpg

As informed before this was a very open competition and the final result was unexpected and somewhat surprising; Something barely reached the final. Andrius Pojavis will compete in Malmö where he will try to reach the Eurovision Song Contest Final for the third time in a row for Lithuania.

It's pretty good! :p But what is he wearing!?!?!? X_X

I have been an ESC addict for ages, but unfortunately since the semi-finals were introduced my country never made it to the final.

On 1 February 2013, CyBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster has informed and confirmed that Despina Olympiou (born 1975) has been selected to represent Cyprus at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo via an internal selection. The Cypriot broadcaster has revelead that 2013 Cypriot Eurovision entry will be officially presented in mid February. The song will be performed in Greek and has been composed by Andreas Giorgallis and penned by Xenon Zindilis.

Despina Olympiou (also known as Dena Olympiou) enjoys fame and recognition both in Cyprus and Greece. She started her career in 1992 singing traditional songs from Greece and Cyprus. She also collaborated and did backing vocals with major singers in the Greek music industry like Haris Alexiou, Pantelis Thalassinos and Michalis Hadjiyannis.

This year Cypriot broadcaster, CyBC made an internal selection to decide their entry for Europe's Favourite TV Show and chose the singer Despina Olympiou to represent the island nation. She will sing a love song, a ballad (sung in Greek) called An Me Thimase, which means 'If You Remember Me'.

Denmark's Eurovision 2013 Entry

On 26 January 2013, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix decided that Emmelie Charlotte-Victoria de Forest (19) will represent Denmark at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö with the song Only Teardrops.

zsrxh.jpg

”Only Teardrops has a really good melody and a good tempo. It also gives you something to think about; how we treat each other and the world. It is melancholic, but also gives hope for the future”, says Emmelie.

I like this song ;) I'm sure we will see her in final!?

Alyona Lanskaya to represent Belarus in Malmö

On 7 December 2012, Belarus was the first country to hold a televised national selection for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. In a truly spectacular show, a 50/50 combination of televoting and a professional jury unanimously decided that Alyona Lanskaya (27) will go on to represent the country in Malmö.

0zQbE.jpg

Previous experience have shown that in Belarus you can't really rely too much on the result of the national final. Last year Alena Lanskaya won the national final, but ten days later was disqualified. The explanation for why says that the president heard rumours about the composer having bought top points from the jury.

After having recorded some entries for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, Alyona Lanskaya made her choice on a hot Latin pop song called Solayoh. We can only hope that she time makes it to Malmö. :worried:

Belgian entry for the ESC 2013

On 16 December 2012, the Belgian public and a special RTBF jury decided that Love kills will be the song Roberto Bellarosa will be performing in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Malmö, Sweden in May.

Roberto Bellarosa is a 17 year old singer. Last year he won the Belgian talent show The voice and was signed with Sony Music. His first album, Je crois, was released in October 2012.

I think Belgium will stay in the semi...Maybe I'm wrong...:?

Esc 2013

When will Jirmeny will have their decision?

After three successful Eurovision years for Germany, secured by two "new talents", Lena and Roman, the national selection is moving in another direction this year: Twelve well-known and experienced acts (Söhne Mannheims, Cascada, Ben Ivory, etc.) will fight for the ticket to Malmö. The German national final Unser Song für Malmö will be broadcast live from the TUI Arena in Hanover on Thursday, 14 February, starting at 20:15 CET. ;)

Eurovision-2013 loses participants to crisis

The list of countries pulling out of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is getting longer. 10 countries including Portugal and Poland have said they will not take part. Most blame the financial crisis for their withdrawal.

Slovakia, Turkey, Czech Republic, Lichtenstein, Greece, Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Luxemburg have also dropped out of the contest.

Turkey had another reason to skip the next Eurovision issue. The state spoke of their dissatisfaction with the new rules that limit the viewer’s influence on the voting results.

Thirty-nine public broadcasters have confirmed their participation in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, to take place in Malmö, Sweden, on the 14th, 16th and 18th of May.
