Well at last I got to watch Spectre and was hoping it was more like the excellent Skyfall and less like the confused Quantum of Solace and although it has it's flaws I enjoyed it. It has all the usual Bond trappings - lots of travel to exotic places and lots of car/helicopter/motorbike chase action and this time there were some jokes too - Ben Wishaw (Q) having some of the best lines. The cinematography is just great...in particular the long, long opening single tracking shot, which is why I have used that clip rather than the trailer

LIVE BY NIGHT a marvellous film by and with Ben Affleck. A film in the style of the old gangster epics of the 30th's. Ben Affleck in one of his best performances.

A sharp and funny satire from David Baddiel. Mahmud (Omid Djalili) discovers he was adopted and that instead of being a Muslim he was born a Jew... severe identity crisis follows as he enlists the help of Jewish cabbie Lenny, played by Richard Shiff (Toby from West Wing)

Iron Fist

Yesterday I watched the whole first season of the Netflix series Iron Fist. All 13 episodes in one day. Although I am not a particular martial arts fan, this series had an exciting plot.

When this came out I thought it wouldn't be for me so didn't bother... then I heard a film critic discussing the Guy Richie/Sherlock films mentioning that he loved them so I grabbed a copy a few weeks back and watched it last night and I was pleasantly suprised & enjoyed it... so much so that I'm going to track down a copy of the 2nd one too.
