Hello everyone!

What songs and albums do you recommend that are best listened to and appreciated through headphones? Im thinking of songs that have great sonic textures or landscapes like Kid A (Radiohead), Sexx Laws/Mixed Bizness (Beck) Bon Iver (22 A Million), Imogen Heap, Sigur Ross, Ray of Light (Madonna) or works by Bjork (although I also require a recommendation as to what album or song) rather than the intimate confessional soul-wrenching songs.

Thanks.

Great idea for a thread, Sammy!

A long time ago, in a culture far, far different from today's there was a music genre known as "Concept Rock" or 'Album Rock'. To my mind it was the high-water mark of popular music and will remain so for all time.

The greats were giants who defined the genre. That Camelot began with

and

and lasted through the age of Led Zeppelin. It was a glorious time. There were 'singles' to be had from all the releases but the music was intended to be consumed in the album's entirety and the stereophonics were enhanced with headphones.

I'll add my share of favorite albums and hopefully others will add their favorites. Most can be found on Youtube as complete albums.

Thanks Winston!
Currently savoring Pink Floyd. Never been a Beatles fan but their songs sound deceptively simple yet upon closer listen, have pretty complex structures. Thanks!

It's nice when you discover and hear something new in a song you've listened to a hundred times.
