Like Literally!

If there are two words that I can't stand in the English language right now, they are "Like" and "Literally". Like it drives me literally bonkers when someone I am talking to like uses the word "like" like every other word! Literally!! What is the purpose of talking like that? How in the world did it become mainstream? I try my best NOT to talk like that.

And the word "literally"? Think about the context that people are using that word in. For example, a friend of mine the other day said that they got "literally 1,000 credit card offers in the mail over the last month". When I told her that if that was true she would have really gotten all 1,000 she gave me this weird look and stopped talking to me.

Call me weird, or maybe it's just my OCD, but one of my quirks that kinda drives people crazy is when I answer a question the exact way that they asked it. Don't ask me if I know what time it is, of course I do. Or if I can tell you what time it is, of course I can.

So yea, people who mess up talking make my teeth grind.

I'm afraid that battle has been lost - the language has evolved. "Literally" now literally means figuratively. Go figure. I am figuratively dying here.
