The Ford Vedette by Simca

Things are clear, there is Aronde scale and there is Vedette scale.
As allways utilitarian vehicles are hidden behind

Trianon

Versailles

Regence

Marly estate is a new model 1957

Ariane was an economic version associating Simca Vedette Trianon body with Aronde engine 4 cylinders 1300 cm3 for large families or cabs for example.

Simca Ariane was the favorit car of the acrobat Jean Sunny

A famous presenter of this time got a nice number-plate with initials and year of birthday.

A new Simca Vedette range for 1958



Ariane 8 (8 for V8) is the old Vedette Trianon

Modified body for the Vedette Versailles that become Beaulieu

Same to Regence that become Chambord

Unchanged name for the Marly estate but new front face

New highscale model named Presidence


In 1960 two presidential cars were designed and assembled by Simca.


With a better equipment and a powerful 4 cylinders "Rush" engine from Aronde Montlhery, Ariane Grand Confort come closer to Chambord.
These models will be producted in last by Simca during two years after the end of Vedette V8. In 1963 it will be finished for Ariane and Aronde, the end of age.

Vedette V8 will be assembled by Simca do Brasil until 1967 !

In early seventies, Ford is coming back in France with 2 new manufactories making gear-boxes, one for some manuals and one for some automatics. It is locating at Blanquefort near Bordeaux. Ford was so proud of its brand new buildings that it named a limited serie of Taunus "Bordeaux". It was a 1600 cm3 automatic well equiped and low cost. In 2000 Ford sold one manufactory to Getrag (Germany) and today the other is about to close :(

Indeed, it was not easy to put one engine and a half of 11 CV (fifteen in UK) under the bonnet of the Citroën FWD ! In UK, 15/6 is named "big six". Notice the very short gear-box in three stages.

27 July 1933 Montlhéry Circuit. 300,000 km. 134 days. 93km/h average. This is the new world record set by the Citroën "Petite Rosalie" (8CV)
