David Campbell made right call to quit, says Kristina Keneal

NSW MP David Campbell says he and his family need time and privacy to deal with the cirstances that led to his shock resignation as transport and roads minister.

Mr Campbell's resignation was prompted by Seven News filming him using his Government car to visit Ken's at Kensington - a gay sex sauna in Sydney.

Speaking for the first time since footage of him leaving a gay sex club in Sydney's eastern suburbs was aired on national television, Mr Campbell said he accepted responsibility for his actions.

i know the public will simply see it has been particularly scandalous that it was a "gay" sauna...and the inapropiate use of the state vehicle being an icing on the cake. Its a sad sad world...but alas there are worse things in this world than bias towards the glbt.

A minister is allowed to use a govt car at any time for personal use, so that isn't an issue. He also did not make use of a govt driver, so it's all about the gay thing - that's a pity. Interestingly, he probably woudn't have got into trouble if he'd been open about it, as are some other politicians.

I agree. The ´icing on the cake´ as far as the media is concerned is that this politician was visiting a gay sauna. It is a case of a politician being ´outed´..

And as to one of the previous posters saying "but alas there are worse things in this world than bias towards the glbt. ", well, I presume you mean ´against´ the glbt community? and there probably IS´NT much worse than bias against the glbt....if you are glbt!
