Strange as this might sound it is possible that the ex-Sex Pistols singer just might be at Eurovision. He still fronts Public Image Limited (but with a different line-up to the original members). They are one of 6 shortlisted as Ireland's entry (John Lyden/Johnny Rotten has Irish parentage)

Described as a "love song to his beloved wife of 50 years, Nora" the lyric recalls one of their happiest times - a holiday to Hawaii. Here's the full song - Anarchy In The UK it ain't - at 66 Johnny has mellowed

It will be so brilliant if (pref. when) PiL get through to the contest. John has become an arsehole in his old age but he is still a loveable arsehole. He deserves to have some fun after all the grief he has had to bear over his wife's illness.

When I saw a blurb about him trying to represent Ireland, I really thought it was a joke.

BTW, Ireland’s Eurovision head of delegation Michael Kealy said it was not the first time Lydon had applied to represent Ireland. He submitted a song to RTÉ five years ago but that was after Ryan O’Shaughnessy had been chosen as the Irish entrant in 2018.

“I thought it was a passing interest, but clearly it isn’t,” Mr Kealy said. “I’m delighted an artist of his calibre is taking part.”

I used to really get excited to follow Eurovision, but after last year seeing it isn't about talent but politics doesn't seem the same.

Well the final Irish vote was last night, and they came 4th (out of 6) with We Are One by Wild Youth getting through to represent Ireland at Eurovision

Disappointing but not surprising. In 48 years time everyone will still remember 'Wild Youth' won't they.
