SUGGESTION: Splitting Video

Today is a bad day for me. I downloaded 2 300-400MB clips. One failed at 90% coz my PC suddenly stopped responding. The other one failed at 97% coz my electric power suddenly dropped and reset my PC. To top the frustration, I needed 2-3 hours per vid. I wasted time and my internet quota. :angry:

Lately, vids size is getting fatter and fatter. 500MB to 1GB! However, there are people whose internet is still slow. or maybe fast but unreliable. Problem gets worse coz some filehosts throttle speed and often disconnect. ~X(

I really miss the old time, when videos are split into several sections, per 100MB. That way, when a download fails, we dont need to redownload from he beginning.

So is it possible to advice uploaders to split their vids? By splitting, uploading becomes easier as well! I'm really frustrated at the moment!

That, I think, is a double edged sword. More, smaller, pieces means often having to wait long hours just to be allowed to DL the next one. However, for slow internet and bad power grids, long ones are a problem.

Having said that, I will admit to not having a better idea. :blushing:

The thing is you can't do it right for everyone.
I guess meanwhile for the most ppl it's more convenient to load a file in one piece regardless the filesize.

I agree.

It demands some time management though, if you download a single 700 mb files on a host that only provides 30kb for free users. It would be nice to have that in two parts sometimes.

Unfortunately, after the "earthquake" that followed the demise of Megaupload, and to follow, of Fileserve, Filesonic. Oron ... etc, the filehosts remained on the market dictate unfavorable rules for free users, placing limitations often irritating and obstructing deliberately.

Only few filehost make exception to this incorrect form, and this thanks to our forum, which limits these malpractices, banning those who do so blatant.

Currently there is only one host completely free, Zippyshare, in addition to not include the "Premium", allows you to download with good speed. Unfortunately, it is used by very few users. Weird but true.

My internet has daily quota of 1 GB. So it means, when my quota is up, I have to wait for tomorrow. Hours of waiting. The previous package is even worse, I have to wait for NEXT MONTH. Greedy isp. No unlimited nowadays coz isps know we use it for donwload ~X(

So I'd rather wait for an hour to resume download, than waiting for 24 hours or a month to RESTART download from the beginning.

It is more convenient I agree, IF the speed is fast and if there's no disturbance (power failure, computer problem, etc). Sadly, many filehosts are slow and it's kind of useless to have fast internet.

My internet is up to 14 Mbps. But it's useless when I download from Asfiles, RapidGator, Uploaded. During that slow downlaod, anything can happen to screw up the download.

I LOVE your links Bigsal! :cheers: Thanks for splitting up the files! it's so considerate I love Zippy too, really fast! Zippy actually can't resume. but it's not a problem coz it doesn't throttle speed.

Btw PutLocker and Akafile don't throttle speed either! I always find those links when I dl tv series. And they're resumable if u use FreeRapid Downloader :thumbs up:

I understand, but my point was addressed to the file server's wait requirement. So two problems instead of one.

To be honest I unfortunately very much understand your frustration but as it had been said before to satisfy everybody isn't possible.
I'm sorry, but so far we won't add any rules about file size as long as it's downloadable for free users.

I hope you won't have so many problems downloading the files in the future.

It seems that uploaders in other forums, even non porn forums, also prefer to upload videos intact. I guess it depends on the uploaders. I hope some are moved by my plight

I honestly never have problem with waiting time limit. My ISP has dynamic IP. So whenever a filehost imposed a waiting limit, I disconnect and resume my downloading new files.

Btw, there are useful tools you can use. Some services allow to resume downloads, like rapdigator does (at least for me sometimes... ). So if you download a file from rapdigator with jdownloader and loose the connection you can resume from that point after reconnection.

Right there with you. I don't pay for membership of the DL sites because they could be shut down any moment and you would lose your money.

The only decent solution is zippyshare AND gamefront.

As inho said, there are plenty of tools u can use, so even if something goes wrong, ur time wont be wasted and u wont have to start over... 90% of the time, there is 1 or 2 hosts that forces a start over after an error, cant remember which ones now. I use JDownloader and my issue is that I have more porn than I can watch ;o jk
