The rain is symbolic to me because when I fist came out as a gay man, my first bf and I were walking through the park one summer night and it started raining so hard that he thought it would be a great idea if we had sex on the soccer field right then and there. It was amazing, and every time I pass a park, I think about that evening.

I like...the summer rain. The scent of the first few drops hit the ground, the freshness and all..
I remember of when i was a decade younger.,on a hot summer afternoon with friends, on way to buy ice cream. It was still sunny but started raining heavily. The fun part was a few meters ahead it was still sunny and dry,but here we were soaking under the sun and rain. And we were fascinated, like we found gold at end of rainbow lol. What's funnier than that - and I have seen it many times - is a bunch of ducks foraging around in the grass near a lake, and when it suddenly starts raining, they panic and head straight for the water.

I love rain, but maybe not quite as much as I used to.

In the last 5 years I have had one tree get struck by lightning and 3 get blown down by strong winds, all at different times. One clipped the corner of my gutter, another one (last summer) crushed both of our cars. That one was 10 feet from the house; if it'd fallen the other way...

So let's just say I love a GENTLE rain.

I suspect that people's attitude to rain depends very much on the nature of the climate where they live. Most rain in Perth falls in winter. That's also the case in Melbourne, where I grew up. Consequentially I associate rain with cold and discomfort. I don't usually complain if it rains in the middle of a summer heat wave, when it is often welcome.
