It won many awards.

I guess I like the deep emotions running through the episode. And at the risk of being controversial, the kind of emotion only black actors can bring. A beautiful episode.

Wrath of Khan shouldn’t need an explanation but if you want me to say something ... the story is great, the music is great, it’s got funny and it’s got plenty of action and sfx and it’s got Ricardo Montalban.

Distant Origin is a story that reveals the hypocrisy of academia in the present.

I would consider myself a Trekkie. I collected many boxsets and even got some collectables along the way.

I have the first season boxset of Voyager. But I haven;t watched the other seasons. I could not take to it. I missed the 'true' Star Trek Universe. The distant worlds of Voyager felt like too much of a break from what came before. Not enough continuity.

I will d/l Distant Origin and see if it sparks an interest in watching the rest of Voyager.

Did you ever got to a Convention?

I never did. I would fear being arrested.X_X I am reminded of that Juror who wore her ST uniform, even with a tricorder, on the Jury. She got away with it though. No men in white coats.

There are great values in ST. I would trust a Trekkie to be a juror any time.

Maybe because I grew up with it as a child, but prefer Star Trek TNG over any other trek series.

No offence meant, but how can anyone think Generations was a good movie? It was a blown up TNG episode with plot holes big enough to hide a Voth City Ship.

But I agree with Yesterday's Enterprise, it was a great episode.

I'm actually looking forward to Star Trek Picard. Have you all seen the newest trailer?

No offence meant, but how can anyone think Generations was a good movie? It was a blown up TNG episode with plot holes big enough to hide a Voth City Ship.

But I agree with Yesterday's Enterprise, it was a great episode.

I thing TNG offered the best escapism. It had the feel of a luxury hotel, with sonic showers and earl grey tea on demand.

And it had better actors, especially the actors playing Picard, Data and Guinan.

Avery Brooks was pretty good in Deep Space Nine.

And William Shatner is a very decent actor.

Who else is noteworthy?

Fun fact: apparently Gene Roddenberry has to dry out from alcohol and recreational drugs before being brought on board to help create Season 1 of TNG. He co wrote the first episode and invented the character of Q. An atheist making God a key character. But hey, boy did it work!

And he genuinely cared about the die-hard fans. They kept him going during dark times.

Rest in peace Mr Roddenberry.

My favorite 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' episode is "Darmok". Communication and cooperation under extremely difficult situations and cirstances. Paul Winfield, an amazing actor by any account, was brilliant as Captain Dathon. (I once used this episode as a Case Study in a business management class; got high marks for it.)

I'm far more of a Trekker than a Trekie. I think I was too young to get the original series when it first aired. Even after trying to revisit it later I just couldn't get into it though I respected it for what it was and meant for the times. Picard is much more my type of captain: cerebral, ethical (most of the time), and more level-headed. He wasn't a skirt-chaser (most of the time). I also think Patrick Stewart is a much better actor -- I know this will generate some fuss; just a personal thing, I suppose.

I can't say that I have a favorite 'Deep Space Nine' episode. There were some I liked and some I didn't. I did watch it, and re-watch it, but I think one of my problems with it was/is that the action generally has to come to them and some of the characters feel stereotyped or generalized.

I do like 'Voyager' -- I'd put it second to ST:TNG -- but, again, can't really cite a favorite episode. I did have problems with the show when they had Janeway start to go all angry (slightly crazy?).

As for "Enterprise' -- I give it a C- to a C. Although I've been rewatching it, it still is too much of a mish-mash and very white testosterone. And that theme song!? Ugh.

I blame Brannon Braga and UPN executives for ruining the franchise for me. Both had a level of misogyny and homophobia, discounted/ignored canon, and -- in the end -- I think looked more to bottom-line-return than to fan-base.

Star Trek Picard looks very promising!

Definitely watching it.

I wonder would it ever have been made if not for the new phenomena of Netflix and Amazon? Would Paramount have done it?
