The Dutch! I could never get used to that, though mixed with catsup, it is actually OK. Of course with the Dutch there are also kroketten.

I prefer very spicy peanut butter sauce. No mayo or ketchup and certainly not vinegar or mustard (as I so some people do in GB).

I don't like plastic squeezy bottles though... it's more fun (and more traditional!) to shake a glass bottle up and down like crazy trying to get it out. And I think when it's in a glass bottle it tastes a lot better --same with bottled water, or wine --plastic bottles are a no-no and spoil the taste.

You'll find very few in the UK who don't put vinegar on chips (fries to you lot )

Ha, yes. My roommate spent a year in Nottingham once. When he came back, he started to put vinegar on his fries, too, and in a short time, we all in the flat did it

but there is a popular option here in ireland in the fast food joints, dunno if anywhere else, is there not integri where u can get garlic mayo on ur chips (i refuse to use the american slang 'fries' THEY ARE CHIPS!!) or even garlic mayo on ur chips with cheese!

Vinegar is the best! Gravy is also pretty good...we used to go up to Canadian FF restaurants like KFC just to get gravy with our fries...you'd ask for gravy in the US and you had to get mashed potatoes with it...

I occasionally put gravy on mine, I think it's more common in the north of England, but they're good with gravy !
