Well, at first I must warn you that I'm quite depressed at this moment so this will not be very cheerful... Once again my failing health is trying to get hold on me, I probably feel just fine tomorrow and kick myself that I let myself get depressed, but anyway...

My question is how do you get back on your feet after something happens? And if you these things happens often and every time you have to start adapting again, what's your method to do it?

I can think at least this: writing, but how about you?

... and how to find courage to click "send"...

... close my eyes and click...

My theory about life is that it's a bitch! And life in itself can be tough and can be tougher for some than for others. I try not to talk about it, but I had a shitty childhood as far as I could remember, so I guess that sort of made me a bit prepared for the shit I endure even now. It still doesn't mean that I am used to it

Two weeks ago I was in a total state, and was depressed! In fact, I was so depressed I totally freaked out one night and burst into tears! It took me 4 days to say, 'You know what! Instead of fighting against my personal battles, let me face them head-on!'

Even now I'm still a bit unsettled, but I am in a better frame of mind compared to a few weeks ago. Sadly, issues don't just go away, and even when you think it's gone, it can be there lurking till you're most vulnerable!

All you need is a good friend with an open mind and an open ear! Talking always helps, even though when I am most depressed I implode silently, but when I do talk to a friend it helps sometimes hearing my own voice saying what's really on my mind.

All I can say to you is be strong! You're not the only one, I totally can understand how you feel because I also bear my own crosses. Cry if you need to! Release all your tension! Let it out! It's a tough task, but sometimes brings great result

First, thank you Gypsy.
Yep, life can be a real bitch and attacks you when and where it truly hurts.

I've been told so many times that I keep too much inside and they may be right. Already now I feel little better because I managed to "click that send" and reading your answer helped more. I really have to remember that it doesn't help to keep everything locked away in my mind.

Kicking and screaming ahead, not going to give up

I wish you happiness :)

we al have our problems in life--sometimes it gives you the pleasures you seek sometimes it doesnt--its kind of like spring and summer--then going into winter--spring and summer sems so pleasant anf fun and seems to fly by so fast then winter even though it lasts couple to three months it seems to last forever--this is how things are that happen in life--the good thingsin life is the spring and summer and when shit bad happens it seems to be like winter-- feelings last forever and doesnt seem to go away--

i --and i am sure that all others --have went through their share of winter days-- but we keep going--some people have really much worse days than other people and somehow keep going-i hate that you are feeling this way about yourself--depression is a growing problem these days i am on a pill for my depression sometimes it seems like they work others they dont but what keeps me going is my family they understand me and work along with me--if i didnt have them then i wouldnt know what to do--

my motto is what doesnt kill me makes me stronger--we get back up because f either we have to or want to in our minds--what kind of health problems you having to make you feel this way that be a good start in letting us know what it is that is making you so depressed--either here or yahoo me lhardwick69---- family and friends is what keep alot of people going--i dont have many friends but my family stand by me 1000 percent

you touched me

Whisper your words touched me. The struggle for life can be cruel. To be or not to be, that is the question (the actual poem is nearly 500 years old).
Max Ehrmann tried to give an answer in “Desiderata” (words for life)
This is a part of his beautiful poem, written in 1927:

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Be gentle with yourself,
a big hug,
Tjerk

At first I want to say thank you so much  You made me cry when I read your answers, but in a good way. I feel better because of you all *hugs so tightly*

Etilit, Ihardwick69 and tjerk12, thank you. Your words, like the ones before yours, means so much to me. I know there's probably no cure for me, but I have to learn to live with this and it helps so much when I can feel I'm not alone (I have a loving family and wonderful friends who support me 100 % but sometimes it feels like I don't want to burden them so much).

The doctors are still trying to figure out what really is wrong with me, but diagnose at this moment is Parkinson's Disease plus some other little problems. I'm only 34 years old so it shouldn't go worse very fast, but who knows. There are better days and worse, you may guess which one is on now. The major reason for my depression at this moment is that there is some other problem, that in one form can cause death if not treated. I have my doctor's appointment quite soon so I know better then. I shouldn't worry yet, but can't help it.

Still, thank you all, once again :heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:

I completely understand your pain and feelings.

Depression is part of dealing with chronic illnesses.
The doctors worry if you aren't depressed when you have an chronic illness.

I've been dealing with shit my whole adult life. Against doctors wishes, I decided to start heavy duty weight lifting and working out. It took them a couple years before they realized that was better for me. They thought I would end up causing more joint and tissue damage.
I use exercise as my escape, and the possible problems caused by my working out, are out weighed by the mental benefits I get.
It's not easy, I've had to stop a couple times for surgeries, and the recoveries have been pretty long. Now I'm dealing with something attacking my lungs and am heavily doped up on drugs, which I have to take for 6 months or more. Made me gain a lot of bad weight and lose my muscle tone. The side effects also make me feel pretty sick.
But I just keep plugging along, and having the support of friends on here,
and my friends at the gym have made a huge difference.
There have been many times where I've just wanted to say screw it and give up. Quit the medication and let whatever happens happen, but I know that's not the best, only the easiest path.

You just can't give up!!

It's going to be a tough road for you, but just
keep plodding along.

Now I don't regret at all that I managed to make myself to post here. I love this place even more :heart:
Yes, one that is truly important is taking care of myself, both physically and mentally. For physical part I have yoga, without it I doubt I would be in quite bad shape, the problem is more the mental part. As I have said in my earlier post, I should not keep all inside.

And yes, the medication... I feel dizzy, I got hallucinations and I get so angry suddenly, without any reasons. But without meds my body just wont work, so let the mirrors dance and shadows creep in the corners of my eyes as long as I can use my body normally. I hope that you will "get along" with your meds too, Tom *hugs*

Simply: thank you :heart::heart::heart:

Whisper, never ever stop believing in yourself. We humans are amazing critters and we have the power to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles in our lives.

Ah, sometimes i felt the same. Like there's something rotten inside me and it's eating me out.. But i know i need to get back to my sense after, for a stronger reason, for good and for the best. If that reason is not for myself, then be that reason for someone i care of.

Things like that do happens in often, it's an obstacle. And like many other obstacles, i suppose we should overcome it over and over again. Some ppl will grow fatigue, some other will gave up. That's when i turn to my friends, they may never be a complete help to our problem, but the best of friends is when they're listening and care for us.

I surely hope you can get back to your feet again, so you can kick that obstacle in front of you. Always believe that there's always a better tomorrow :)

I know what you mean about the med changing you.
I was warned that I could have immediate mood swings.
I had to let them know at work that if I suddenly have mood swings it was the medication, and not some illegal drugs.
Is it a case where your body has to adjust to the drugs, and soon the side effects will be less? I know most people using the drugs I'm on
need anti nausea medication, but fortunately I don't. The unbearable headache went away, but it took 2 very long months.
Can you sleep OK? That is the biggest thing.

I had to stop taking the meds for a month, when doctor wanted to check couple things, but I needed to start them again. The starting dose was quite big (this medication, Sifrol, has to be started with smaller doses until reaching the normal daily dose) and although I knew there would be nausea, the reaction was much worse: I threw up few days, nothing couldn't stay down.

Now my body has adjusted, no nausea and no insomnia, but I'm tired. I'm happy that I don't need my migraine preventive meds anymore because I stopped taking my birth control pills. Those migraine preventive meds made me even more tired. I think the remaining side effects are tiredness, dizziness and hallucinations.

So far so good. I just hope my doctor doesn't want me to start Levodopa, not yet...

Oh about work. It is good at this moment that I'm unemployed. The tiredness is the worse and I remember this one occasion: I'm a librarian and that day I was handling the customers loaning the cd's and all (music department). The customer came to me and somehow I managed to fall asleep and woke up when he practically pushed the library card to my face X_X

Just wondering in this post if you've had your doc schedule a sleep study for possible obstructive sleep apnea or other sleep disorders that rob you of your needed rest overnight.
