Hillary Clinton Monday (18 May) visited the home of one of the first gay couples to marry in Iowa.
The Democratic presidential hopeful met more than 60 supporters at the Mason City house of Dean Genth and Gary Swenson, who got married on the first day the state legalized gay marriage in 2009.
Clinton has positioned herself as an LGBT ally since she announced her presidential bid last month. Two gay couples appeared in her announcement video and days later she urged the Supreme Court to rule in favor of constitutional right for gay marriage.
Genth and Swenson both supported Barack Obama over Clinton during the 2008 caucus but are now backing the former secretary of state.
Swensen described Clinton as 'delightful.'
'If I liked her before, I like her now amazingly more,' he wrote on Facebook.
'Personal one on one conversation revealed an erudite, personable, and capable individual.'
Genth said she spoke to every supporter who attended the gathering.
'Hanging out with Hillary at our home today,' he wrote.
'Gary and I introduced each of the 65 guests to her over the course of her two hours of personally talking with each and every guest. Amazing and one for our Memory Books!'
