0nlyF@ns to Ban Sexually Explicit Videos Starting in October

In an announcement taking many by surprise, content creation company 0nlyF@ns has said that it will ban sexually explicit video content on its site beginning in October.

The company said that nude photos and videos will still be allowed as long as they follow the company’s policy, according to Bloomberg, which was the first to report the announcement.

0nlyF@ns has more than 150 million users. It also has over 1.5 million content creators, according to its website. Many sex workers use the site to sell fans explicit material. Celebrities and influencers also used the site to sell adult and PG-rated material to their fans — people like Cardi B, Bella Thorne, and Aaron Carter all have accounts.

The company has seen a significant increase in traffic since the pandemic began in the spring of 2020, shifting the company’s focus to content-makers who are not sex workers, according to Bloomberg.

Previously, the site received praise for providing sex workers a space to conduct their work, seemingly filling a void after Tumßlr banned adult content in 2018.

0nlyF@ns said it needed the change due to pressure from banking partners and payment providers as it raises money from outside investors.

“In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines,” the company said in a statement.

Sadly, 0nlyF@ns have forgotten that it's far easier and predictable to retain a customer than chase a potential one. They have a lucrative business with a huge turnover, but think that after it's "cleaned up", that celebrities will want to use their platform... it'll likely be a wrong fit for most, unless their public image is one that's hyper-sexy, very suggestive or sketchy.

Reversing A Planned Ban, OnlyFans Will Allow Pornography On Its Site After All

The website OnlyFans is reversing a planned ban on pornography and other sexually explicit content.

Just days ago, the London-based company said that starting in October, it would block sexually explicit material, in response to concerns from banks and other financial services companies that enable transactions on the subscription service. It did not name the companies.

But on Wednesday, OnlyFans said it would be able to continue allowing adult content, which is a large part of its business, after all.

"We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change," the company tweeted Wednesday morning. "OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators."

There's nothing like a bit of reality to shock them into reversing. First thing I did - and I suspect many other users - was to cancel re-billing / subscribing to all the channels. After all, it's late August and the subscription would run till sometime in September with the original deadline to kick in on Oct 1 The sudden drop in projected revenue, plus complaints from content creators would have sent a shock to all. In fact, i received video messages from some content creators that they would appreciate re-subscriptions switched back on, as they would have noticed quite a few of their fans suddenly dropping out.

When I first heard it, my initial thoughts were that they were shooting themselves in the foot and would come to regret it. I guess it happened even sooner than I expected. Other sites would have sprung up and JFF is already running. I wonder how many have already switched and said FU to OF?

Weird strategy to try and get publicity, which it undoubtedly did. In the process it alienated fans and content producers, so was it just a bad decision to try and get around rules on online payments by blaming the banks?
Probably a sham/scam after the owners sold the business.

Well, in the latest plot twist, 0nlyF@ns has made available to content creators an option to switch on Digital Rights Management (DRM) on their new videos from 4-May-2023 onwards. This means that videos uploaded after this time with DRM enable cannot be played outside of OF, as it has an L3 protection put on it, which can be undone if you know how!

I've crunched some numbers for teninchtopxxx, with a data collection on 24-Jul and also today, 30-Jul.


While the number of "likes" is certainly not an exact indicator of how many subscribers there were at any given time, it does point to the number of likely subscribers that might have existed in the "total pool" if you like. Or at least it might point to popularity and overall approval.

In this exercise, I noted down the number of likes for each and every post (photo, preview video or full video), averaging all the posts for each month since the beginning of this OF channel in July 2019, right up till (almost) the end of July 2023.


As you can see from the chart, the peak of number of likes was in September 2020, averaging 453 - which was kind of a "highwater mark" if you like.


What's interesting is the channel has had its up and downs since, with numbers hovering but staying somewhere around 300 likes per month from November 2020 right through to March 2023.


However, I'm suggesting from the data that there's been a drop-off since the OF encryption feature that content creators could switch-on for their channel, which happened at the end of April 2023. This may have possibly been a factor for subscribers giving up and not re-subscribing, given the inability to download the videos unless a number of technical workarounds were applied. Or it could be subscribers simply showing their displeasure by not clicking on "likes" as they previously used to.


But what happens afterwards may also point to the further downturn in number of "likes" with PPV videos introduced for the first time in July 2023. All full-length videos up till this stage were included in the price of the monthly subscription, but from this month onwards, three videos so far were released as PPV only.


With each contributing factor, there will be a lag between the event and the data, but even at this stage, it might be surmised that some part of these factors have influenced the number of likes that can be seen almost immediately.


So, over to you guys (pornhounds!), what do you think? Any other inferences you might draw from the data? Your experience in what's happening in real life with other content creators?


Is the OF model really relevant in 2023 with the memory of lockdowns in what seems like a distant past, have we seen the peak of OF and now it's just going to just fade out? Or is it only for this channel, where punters are tired of the same schtick, but now with the added barriers of being unable to save videos, and having to pay more for PPVs as well?
