THE engagement is off. Ruby Rose's relationship with Catherine McNeil is over. Rose informed friends via Facebook at the weekend that her passionate and much-photographed on-off relationship with the international model was over.
It is understood it was McNeil who ended the relationship, although yesterday reps for both women were refusing to discuss the split.
Distance is said to have contributed to the breakdown with McNeil, who is based in New York, not home enough to keep the love alive.
"They are and have long been tremendous friends," a friend of the couple said yesterday, confirming the split.
"It's sad they've broken up and both women are determined to remain close but the relationship wasn't working."
