Tom of Finland - His Early Works 1940's

This collection is one of the few where colourings have been applied. Yes I know some of his latter work was coloured but these remain the only coloured pics from the bulk of his work and much is captioned in his home country language - Finnish.

I want to get a thread started for all the stuff I have of Tom's but before I do. just give some clarification regarding the downloads.

It may be that many of you will already have some of his stuff; if so, just check out the resolutions of my files to see if they are any better, as much of his stuff on the net comes in many different sizes. Indeed, I am still upgrading my archives when I find a better scan.

Again, much that is available, is bolstered up by manipulating the formats and presenting the files in BMP., GIF., & Tiff. Tiff especially increases the numeric size of the file but does nothing to make the picture any bigger or clearer.

Many of you will already know this though many new to forums will not.

For myself, I attempt to upload everything in jpeg format. In the case of Tom's work, there is at times a smattering of gifs in some of the posts but I put that down to laziness on my part (there are thousands of pics) and partly, that's how I obtained them, in particular, original files of the portfolio from the 'Tom of Finland Foundation'.

All the postings I make of his will come to about 800mb. I did say there are thousands of pics. Within some posts, there will appear to be duplications - normally, these will be the same pic but with a bigger or smaller resolution.

Enjoy his stuff. He is, with Julius, Ettiene, Sean and others, one of the best homoerotic artists about.
It's interesting, that most of his drawings show a smiling face, rather than a snarl or grimace. I like that.

Splatz, you've come up trumps again!!!

It was Tom of F that first convinced me of how important a smile and character are to sexual attraction. P Lust, leering, suggestiveness, fun, etc are all communicated by a smile - I think, apart from other enormous things, that is often where his genius lies.

Thanks so much for keeping us reminded of him as well as making sure we have the best files.
