I never smoked. My father did, and his death at age 63 (same age I am now) was due in no small part to smoking-related causes.

Actually I did smoke tobacco once - I was offered some dope and decided to try it (only the second time I have ever done so). He neglected to mention that the dope was mixed with tobacco, and the latter made me violently ill. That was enough to convince me tobacco was not my thing. As a matter of fact, I thought the marijuana was over-rated as well.

i gave up smoking 35+ years ago and do not miss it. i have vowed though that on my death bed i will smoke a lovely expensive cigar before i die. I am 68 years old so i should be buying one soon for that eventuality. I am happy that my kids never picked up the habit. and i do not scorn people who do smoke. some of my very best friends have been lifelong smokers.
