Well, the HPA is a very thorough organization, so I'm sure these stats hold together. But the journalism behind this particular article leaves something to be desired.

The whole thing assumes that HIV rates have gone up. Have they? From what to what? This is the central premise of all the conclusions, but the article never quotes a figure. It breaks down condom use, and anti-retro viral drug influence - but never gives the overall number that is causing concern.

This is reporting via press release. Once upon a time there were reporters that covered only medical stories and knew what kinds of questions to ask.

I personally don't use condoms; course I almost never get laid anymore either. But I see it this way; if it happens, then it happens. I should not have to give up good Natural sex. Evaluate the risks and make the choices that are appropriate for you.

However, just a point of fact - there is a HUGE difference between the potential negative effects of acquiring HIV vs. drinking piss.

Drink piss and maybe you will get a stomach ache. Contract HIV via blood or semen and you will have an incurable disease. This disease will either be fatal, or require treatment that costs about $20,000 for every year you want to survive.

And to complete TopDog statement... I hope that you are taking the necessary precautions to make sure you're clean so the other person you're having sex with isn't doomed for life for your hatred for protection. Condom isn't only for your protection, it protects the other person too. If you're okay with taking risk, at least do not condemn the others; hopefully you get tested often.

I certainly still use condoms unless I'm in a LTR, trusting relationship with someone. Not using condoms on random hookups or one night stands is crazy. And I agree, the other person does deserve consideration even if you don't care that much for yourself.

I fail to see the logic ... People have all means of informations and they are not naive either.

People spend hours-per-day shaping their body with a strict diets and all; however, when it comes to using a protection on a random hook-up, they somehow loose their brain and love for their body.

The thing is folks, life is short but not for the one in suffering. The choice is yours and yours only.
