Well, thanks. I'm not sure why you say that - is it because of HIV/AIDS?
I do consider myself fortunate in some ways to have been born at the time I was. Growing up gay (which I was, whether I admitted it to myself or not) was not a bed of roses in the 1950s and 1960s, but things seemed to get noticeably better in the 1970s, and I had several years of good sex before I ever had to start worrying about "being safe". I feel so sorry for the kids that reached puberty in the early 1980s - bad enough to discover that your sexual feelings are different from those of most of your friends, but then to find that it can also kill you.
Some gay men regard the 1970s as the gay golden age. I do think the cliche about rose-tinted glasses applies, but I can see what they mean.

not quite there yet but not far off, I'm of an age where I'm just thankful and surprised to still be here and in reasonable shape. Way past the, 'oh fuck I'm getting old' stage and now slowly and gradually embracing the depth of character that maturity brings. The only trouble is that all the younger guys that are all around me both on the street and the web are soooooooooo unbelievably fucking hot I find myself feeling more and more perverted from one day to the next, then I think, I'm sure I'm not the only one. x
