You're right, Gorgik.I too believe that the adjective "cool" referring to a young man or a teenager is a "contradictio in adjecto".
Since English is not my native language, I do not know the precise etymology of that adjective. I have often wondered why the adjective "cool", which is also synonymous with almost cold, or being a calm or indifferent person, may have taken on the meaning of being a young fashionable, trendy,a popular person admired by peers.
All the more so if this adjective defines a person at an age when testosterone is at its highest level. Perhaps the adjective "hot" would have been more appropriate.
However, the "contradictio in adjecto" only applies to the English language. I don't know Swedish, but I can assure you that in Italian, French, German and Spanish and also in Latin no adjective that characterizes a person admired by others has any connection with the cold or the lukewarm.
