What the hell, Part 2!!!

Its so odd that I would have returned home today to see the post about the 10 yr old boy by the always wonderful Glamberous. Odd because I happen to be at my least favorite waterhole in town, Applebees and I swear swirling in my head was the trying of juveniles as adults for life sentence crimes, mostly murder, which is very commonplace here in America. Its a passionate subject for me and so on the heels of What the Hell, part one, I thought I'd ask how you all feel about the practice of putting children under the age of 18 on trial as an adult for murder with a manditory life sentence. If it isnt too obvious, I'm against it on every level (although I respect everyone's opinion).

I agree fully Integritas. The cirstances, the dynamics, the psychology all should come into play. I beleive here in the States the youngest child serving a life sentence is 13...I fail to beleive in any way shape or form that that boy or any boy that young can be deemed an adult. Older teens, I agree, must be examined more closely although I still beleive regardless the cirstances that some compromise must be found. I do think of the victim(s) and their families. And yes, we do concentrate moreso on the perps and not those who have suffered. But most cases involving juveniles are the result of our ignorance, denial and apprehension to confront the true violater and in most of these cases its a family member, a close friend, a spiritual advisor, a teacher, a police officer, a counselor or whomever has the upper hand on an immature kid. Its not a matter of feeling any less compassion for the victim but trying to do the best for a child who never had a chance.

I'm no longer sure how to handle this issue, when i was a kid, we didn't have so much to see, and all towns and ppl policed themselves, but now its different, there is sooooooo much to see and hear, sometimes I think kids today are brainwashed with all the news, and ppl know longer have the capacity to police themselves!!

I think we should put ppl that are dangerous away in an institution and try to understand why they did what they did sometimes its best to study someone or thing lol
