The last few days were above freezing and wet here in Boston. Most of the snow is gone except for the piles. My city neighborhood has piles.
It's cold now. It will be ARTIC cold tomorrow.

I'll be driving south of town to my cousins for the day. One must bring things. The Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc can go in the trunk. The colder the better.The orchid with holiday spangles will need some protection.
I got them both from Costco yesterday. Value shopping, even on the day.

So a crisp, sunny ride down. Really crisp ride home in the dark. No snow for the next week. All in all, an ok winter weather week.

Currently -23°C / -8°F in Winnipeg going down to -32°C / -26°F tonight. December was such a brutally cold month – second coldest December in the last 100 years with an average temperature of -21°C (normal average is -13°C) – that silly articles comparing our weather to Mars have been appearing.

PLEASE! Don't talk to me about cold...throw a dart at a map of North America and if you hit a bullseye you'll know where I live. Just came off a WEEK where it's averaged -20F below zero (-20 FARENHEIT! not that pussy celcius-thingy. They cancelled school Monday because the actual temp dropped to -30F and the wind was blowing 20mph so the wind chill felt like 50 to 60 BELOW ZERO. WTF!! Frostbite happens within minutes for exposed flesh and it's FREAKING WARMER on MARS at this time of year! SO WHY DO I LIVE HERE?????

I think the best way to deal with terrible weather is to complain about it. So I'm with you garth123.

haiducii, I hope that isn't your car handle in the photo. One time half my car was covered in freezing rain (only half due to the wind) and I was pulling on the handle quite hard so I could see how that would happen. I never did get in by using the handle and ended up having to use the passenger side, where I crawled over and forced open the driver's door from the inside. Oh the fun?!

In wintertime the temperature in The Netherlands should be about minus 10 or minus 20. Fact is that the temperature is PLUS 16 degrees! It feels a bit like a bad summer. Too cold to wear shorts.
