It was 3 degrees f in Boston early this morning. Tomorrow, we get a major snowstorm. 16 inches here in the city.
The big number is due to the cold. The colder it gets, the fluffier the snow.
16 inches of fluff.

In my Boston neighborhood, we got 18 inches of heavy wet snow. Blizzard conditions with very high winds. Nearby was much more,

OMG I've read in our papers from your heavy snowstorms. Horrible. I'll pray for you that soon it will be over. Here in Berlin we have had as well a cruel cold winter with snow and ice-rain which has made the streets and sidewalks glassy.
But since yesterday suddenly all is over and the temperatures will rise now again. So we hope that soon the spring is arriving.
And the same I wish for you as well.

Very odd weather here in the UK. Tuesday was wet and windy and cold at 11 degrees, yesterday (Wednesday) it was 23 deg and I dragged the sun lounger into the garden; put some shorts on; slapped on some sun-cream and enjoyed 5 hours sun-worshipping.... today was back to grey skies and just 12 degrees with some rain.

Parts of the UK are under a heat dome again (parts of mainland Europe too) today was 30deg and weatherman is forecasting 32 and 33 deg where I am with minimum overnights only dropping to 20 deg so sticky nights! Down in the south-east they are talking about 37deg, maybe even 40

Totally correct. Today we've had 30° C and until Sunday it shall be growing up to 38° C. Perhaps Italians or Spaniards will now come for a summer holiday to Germany?
We are sleeping totally naked (if you can call it "sleeping") and nonetheless I would like to move away my skin.

Forty people have drowned in heatwave-related deaths in France since Thursday, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has said, as temperatures hit record levels in several major cities and the heatwave reaches a peak in several European countries.

France, Spain and Italy have been hardest hit by the heatwave so far. France saw its hottest June day on record on Tuesday, reaching an average of 29.8C. Its hottest night was recorded on Monday, at a minimum average of 21.6C, according to Météo France, and more than half the country is on red alert.

Meanwhile, in Spain temperatures are set to peak above 40C in some areas, with red alerts in Andalusia in the south, and Cantabria and the Basque Country in the north, on the third day of a national heatwave.

Spanish forecasters say temperatures on the Iberian peninsula will start to fall from Wednesday onwards, however they are set to peak in the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as Germany on Friday.

The Dutch weather service, the KNMI, has issued a Code Orange weather alert which refers to a "high chance of dangerous weather" in southern and central areas from Wednesday to Friday.

After meeting on Tuesday, Belgium's Risk Management Group said it was activating the "alert phase of the national ozone and heat plan" for only the second time.

And in Italy, a red heatwave alert has been declared in 15 cities, including Rome, Milan, Florence, Turin and Venice. The alert signals conditions that can pose health risks even to healthy adults, not just the elderly or chronically ill.

The heatwave also meant a nuclear power plant in southwest France had to be shut down on Monday night because water temperatures in the River Garonne were set to reach 28C on Tuesday. Under French laws, water used to cool the reactors at the Golfech plant must not exceed that temperature.

Summer and sun is beautiful - but at the moment it is too much "beautiful"! I really hate it to live in a house with lowered blind jalousies. But now it is life-saving!

What I've said before? People from these countries in South-Europe will come in their holidays to us!

It's not just the temperatures but the sunrise/sunset times. We are only 2 days after the summer solstice so are having the longest amount of sunshine per day. Where I am sunrise is currently 04:35am and sunset is 21:40pm (that's 09:40 in the evening for those who don't use the 24hr clock/military time!) so it's hot late into the night and without a huge amount of time to cool down the sun is back out and it's warming up again.

Last night just before sunset at 21:30 it was still 30C/86Foutside and at 05:00am this morning it was 22C/72F and rising so the usual plan of throwing open all your windows so you can get some sleep in a nice cool room is not going to work.

All what you have said here, I can only confirm it for 100%! At night, it is the most wickedly time! Close the window = you cannot breathe! Open the window = you can not breathe!

But let us remember all these posts about the heatwave in late October, November .... and we will be longing that we could have this time back! Don't you think so?

Yesterday I've said to my employees that we will not open our office today because of the horrible heat from nearly now 40°C.
They shall come back on Monday. As I could read then the temperatures will fall down to 23°C. Isn't that utter madness??!!
