Its a tough one cause I love any animal..but if I had to chose it would be a dog. I've had several...Black Lab, Rottie and a Cocker and loved them all. I've had several cats and loved them to death..in fact one killed my bird...oops . You can't beat having a pet that loves you though, no matter what it is.

A cat. They're independent like me and don't need too much looking after! I wouldn't want one at the moment though, but if I had space and time and money to feed them I'd probably have a dog & a cat.

So from what I can gather ... what we want from a "pet" is mutual respect, devotion, loyalty, love, and companionship .. and something to take care for, go for walks with, play ball games with, to give the occasional pat, or stroke to ... something that will sit on your lap on long winter evenings, sleep on you bed and maybe even greet you when you return home by jumping all over you, with a lick on your cheek and maybe even a nose in your groin.

I have to say cats..

Don't get me wrong I love dogs and just about any other animals out there. But the relationship between a dog and it's master is just that, your his master. His affection comes from a dependence on you.

On the other hand, a cat is independent. Cats don't need us, they come and go as they please (in some homes) and almost always return. With a cat, you are equals, so when a cat shows affection, it's genuine...
