The story that Shane tells truly is heartbreaking . You are a very strong person and I thank you for sharing your story. It is a reminder that we need to stand up and let our voices be heard. Another sad page of life. Today, on mother's day, Tom's mother has to think about how much harm he did to his son and how can you really "love".
But people like that, is not capable of loving.

People are blinded by prejudice caused by years , possibly generations, of indoctrination. This is not a new thing, it's been around since the beginning of mankind.

I'd be hated if I gave my real feelings about religion (not that I'd care very much) , no the philosophy isn't necessarily all bad, in fact it's something we should all live to as decent human beings, but why do I find that the ones who seem to live up to these philosophies and morals so much more easily are the ones who don't subscribe to these religions ?

We have no boundaries other than decency and respect , isn't that what all religion preaches ? It's what civilisation is based on and survives on. Why can't those who "worship the god(s) of love" practice the same ?

Again, it's all down to political brainwashing and the bastardisation of the original, and quite probably, well meaning texts.

Nothing can be as heartbreaking as the reality. I don't believe in God, so I expect that God doesn't believe in me. Yet we seem to live in harmony. From me He gets the freedom to play his role as a God and He seems not to interfere in my life, because I am able to live a happy life. What is the reason that His followers don't show the same greatness and respect? They only accept God's hand in the gift of life and the gift of death. But inbetween humans play for God. God works in mysterious ways they say. So respect His creations, accept that people are gay! Do not kill the souls of His creatures just because you think that He was so stupid to make mistakes.

Life can be so cruel. It's sad to see the love two individuals have for each other isn't recognised by some people, and it's even more sad to see how the lives these two have changed forever. One whose life has been taken away from him and the other whose life has lost its meaning from the loss of his soulmate. But I'm glad Shane decided to make this video in order to enlighten people and fight for what he believes in. I hope he will find happiness again some day.

Love is love, and it's equally strong and real between two men/two women, as it is between a man and woman. Why can't some people understand that?

It makes me want to go out right now and write a will specifying that my biological family absolutely has no rights to to my assets, body, or even to be informed should something happen to me. That will be on my to-do list for the next year... Some abusive homophobic sbags who are no longer even in your life shouldn't be able to do that. Even if you can't legally marry, you can still write a will!

I agree 100% with you. I can remember coming out to my mother I was extremely nervous. She already had one gay son and I didn't want to be a burden by telling her she had another. But then I thought maybe since she's dealt with this before she would be more accepting. Boy was I wrong what followed was an hour of "bible talk" and how I'm not really a man because I'm gay. Needless to say after that I've pretty much cut all ties to my mother. I want nothing to do with a woman who's not gonna be accepting to who I choose to love. Gay or straight a mothers love and acceptance of her son should be unconditional.
