THE FRONT RUNNER a film from 2018 starring Hugh Jackman.
Gary Hart, a U.S. senator from Colorado, is the widely accepted front-runner in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. After losing the 1984 nomination to vice-president Walter Mondale, Hart decides to run for President of the United States. At one point during his campaign, against the will of his manager Bill Dixon, Hart challenges the press and public to "follow him around" while he's not campaigning on weekends. This proves to be a mistake when in 1987, photos of him and journalist Donna Rice are published by Miami Herald Reporters. In a desperate attempt to clear his name, Hart tries to fix his reputation at a news event concerning the affair but to no avail. Because of the consequences of his actions, Hart is disgraced, berated by Dixon, and forced to drop out of the campaign while his wife Oletha remains to be close with him. Donna also announces that she has personally denied sleeping with the now former senator.. (from IMdB).

One of the very best political dramas I've seen.

We just watched a very emotional and harrowing movie from Argentina MARILYN from 2018.
Marcos, a young farm worker, discovers his sexuality in a hostile environment. Nicknamed Marilyn by other teenagers in town, he becomes the target both of human desire and discrimination. Marcos feels himself pushed into a corner more and more.
And the tragic thing is, that these story has been true!

Q: The film contains numerous references to and observations about Slovenian society and the national mentality. Is this something you are particularly interested in?

Darko Štante: Yes; I think filmmakers and artists in general should be aware of the social environment they are living in. Personally, I simply have to observe it and reflect on it. I’m very interested in the mentality of Slovenian society. We are a small Central European country influenced by all of its neighbours, but sometimes I have the feeling that it is only absorbing the worst of those influences.

To anyone who has seen any prison / reform school film, there is nothing really new about this except a) it is set in Slovenia and b) there is no shower-based male rape scene.

Anyway, the plot is good, the acting very good; so my advice for you is to see this film.
