Following on from that sad news from haiducii about how boring music radio has become, some even sadder news.
What is the most listened to radio station in the UK? It's not what you think it is.
The 167,500 poor bastards who work for the Asda supermarket have no choice but to listen to their in-house radio all through the long working day, on top of that are 18 million customers per week who hear it during their shopping. Actualy, Snow Patrol aside, the music is not that bad and at least the adverts are not a distraction since they are all for the shop that you are already shopping in. And sometimes there is a funny coincidence, like there is no bread left and the song is The Stones "You can't always get what you want" or there is long tedious checkout queue and the radio plays The Kinks "Tired of waiting for you"

Btw, their shell is identified with St. James, Santiago in Spanish, and so were traditionally carried by pilgrims to Compostela. They are of course the French coquille St. Jaques and might have begat their treat Madeleines baked in Medieval centres along the route to Compostela and simulate its shape.

The gif is deceptive in the way that the popular gifs which show a boy ming again and again and again are deceptive. We all wish we could keep on squirting for as long as we wanted but in sad reality we need to stop and rest before trying again. Same thing for the jumping scallop, it might want to keep moving but it can only manage a few jerks then it gets tired and has to rest for an hour or more. Poor thing, I know how it feels.

Vienna remains the world’s most liveable city

According to an annual index compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a sister company of The Economist, the Austrian capital is the most liveable city in the world for the second year running.



On the EIU’s index, which ranks 140 cities on 30 factors bunched into five categories—stability, health care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure—Vienna scores a near-perfect 99.1 out of 100, putting it just ahead of Melbourne. Sydney and Osaka fill the next two spots in a top ten dominated by Australian, Canadian and Japanese cities. Higher crime rates and ropey infrastructure pull some bigger cities like London, New York and Paris down the league table, despite their cultural and culinary attractions.

It’s odd that I did not turn into a futurist or SciFi reader when I loved reading Jules Verne, H. G. Wells and Flash Gordon as a young boy. Flash Gordon just morphed into Flesh Gordon as I hit puberty and that was the extent of it.
