The Black Phone (2021)
A serial killer known as The Grabber abducts children and locks them in his basement.

I went in to this blind and was surprised to see Ethan Hawke as The Grabber. He did a pretty good job.
It primarily focuses on one child's experience in the basement. I didn't know how the 'phone' would
come into play, but it was very well done.

Since it's streaming, I finally saw Wicked to see why my Bluesky and X/Twitter feeds are full of praises and people watching it over and over.
Overall, I thought it was a really good movie, and really enjoyed the Defying Gravity scene, but can't see myself wanting to watch it again anytime soon. So, hopefully that doesn't mean I have to turn in my gay card. Bwahaha!

WOW. What a movie. Based on the true story of John's struggle with Tourette's Syndrome this is at times heart warming; jaw-dropping; laugh-out-loud funny; painful and joyful. What holds it together are the superb performances from Scott Ellis Watson as young John and Robert Aramayo as older John. It also stars Maxine Peake and Peter Mullen, who for once is not playing a violent psycho.

Highly recommended. I swear it is.

An exuberant tale full of giant pumpkins, madcap characters, and a little girl who just might be a pumpkin-growing savant. Imdb

A light hearted feelgood movie full of charm and whimsy. I did enjoy it but given that the main cast included Nick Frost; Jane Horrocks; Tim McInnerny & Joe Wilkinson I was expecting it to be funnier.

I eventually managed to find a copy but had some issues as the 1st one I got had been dubbed into Italian and had no subs then I got one with the original French (and Arabic & English) but the english subs were slightly out of sync with the dialoge and also probably generated by AI as they didn't even correctly subtitle the English dialogue... BUT even so I enjoyed it - very intense in places - even though we know some of what is going to happen,

This is a 22min short starring the irrepressible Myriam Margolyes; Steven Fry and Alistair Nwachukwu, It simply tells a tale of two strangers who meet by chance and develop a bond. Beautifully written with great performances. Sentimental, twee and clichéd? Yes Utterly charming? Yes Recommended? Yes

CRIME 101 (2025)

An elusive thief ( Chris Hemsworth), eyeing his final score, encounters a disillusioned insurance broker (Halle Berry) at her own crossroads. As their paths intertwine, a relentless detective (Mark Ruffalo) trails them hoping to thwart the multi-million dollar heist they are planning. Imdb

A highly entertaining crime caper with enough twists and turns to keep you watching (like Barry Keoghan as another thief). Excellent performances from all. If I have a criticism it's maybe the pacing could have been improved with a bit of cutting - it runs at 2hr 20min.

BRING HER BACK (2025) ..... no trailer due to actor ages

A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother. Imdb

The performances in the movie are all excellent, especially the 3 youngsters but I thought this was just going to be a psychological horror and it went full-on horror too. How Jonah Wren Phillips isn't totally fucked up after playing young Oliver is a mystery.

Very disturbing, very creepy, very gory in places.....one for horror fans only for sure.

The Cabin In The Woods (2012)
Five friends stay at remote cabin.

The main reason I wanted to watch this is because Chris Hemsworth is in it.
I haven't seen many of his movies outside of Marvel. It has an interesting
concept. I think it's designed to make you wonder about every other horror
movie you've ever seen. Not many jump scares, but I still enjoyed it. Gets
bloodier and bloodier as it goes along. Two of the death scenes made me laugh.

CREEP (2014)

I was a little disappointed; not exactly what I was expecting. I was expecting a slasher movie, but it felt more like
one of those 'found footage' movies. Mark Duplass does a good job playing a creepy, disturbed man.
It was good enough for me to want to see Creep 2.
