bf was complaining about going to footie match and it was going to be -5degrees (C) and he laughs at me for being in a hot climate...but i grew up in a cold one...i remember going outside and my nose froze!! whats coldest you were?

and im wondering if you might answer this emotionally? when were you coldest to another human?

I'm not sure if this is the coldest I've ever been but it really felt like it: this week when I was waiting for the bus, the temperature was -33°C (-27.4°F) and my eye lashes were frozen

That was in a cold-chamber as a treatment against some inflammation in my back.

I know it sounds completely mad but it's true. This is a dry coldness, so you don't feel it directly. One treatment went for maximum 3 minutes and you had to move all the time but believe me, these temperatures really force you to move

After reading some of the other guy's experiences mine sounds mild, but once I was in Berlin and it was -20 degrees celsius. I thought that was as cold as it could ever get but apparently not!

North of the province of Saskatchewan, -50 dry cold in 1985... and guess what it wasn't the coldest they had... Unlike the other provinces Saskatchewan is a plain province with very few mountains. From my youth I recall a day where school was cancelled because it was -42 in my Ice Paradise small town in north of the Province of Quebec, in 1987 and wind was making it feels like -55. You would freeze almost instantly going outside... you feel frostbites within 2 to 5 minutes being outside if the skin was exposed. I was born under a burning sun of my Caribbean Island, I was raised in Winter Wonderland, where the shit is white, cold and everywhere :rofl:

Once in Edmonton, Alberta. It was -40 Celsius. If no wind, it's not really bad. It's the wind chill factor that kills you.

There are two places that I can recall. The first would be in northern Ontario where it was -49°C with no wind. There was a thick ice fog. It stayed like that for a week and I was living in a tent then. The other place would be in the Northwest Territories, Canada on the coast of the Arctic Ocean, but still on the mainland and not on one of the islands. The temperature was around -50° with no wind and again I was living in a tent. The temperature isn't so bad if one dresses for it. The coldest that I can recall that would include the windchill factor would be somewhere around -75°C to -80°C. The air temperature was around -40°C and the winds were howling.

I've lived most of my life in areas where -30 °C to -40°C is common for at least half the winter. It's not as bad as some would have people believe.

I cannot compete with all the minus records above, but I just had a very cold experience. The frost had destroyed a water pipe in my house. Happily I discovered it when I wanted to make a cup of coffee. The water pressure was suspicious low. Unhappily the master crane is in my cellar and that room was flooded with water (about 4 degrees Celsius I suppose). I had to undress myself and go into the water to reach the crane. THAT WAS COLD!

-35 degrees celcius in Toronto. I tried to open the main door of my apartment with bare hand (no gloves because i thought it was too bulky) and my skin immediately "glued" to the handle LOL...
